why would Yao presumeably (sp?) leave Houston IF his contract runs up without signing an extension first? He'll be playing with one of the best players in the league who, by the way, will pass to him moreso than Mobley and Francis combined? Tack on the fact that Houston is no slouch in the Asian American community department. And how did Yao and Rudy get so close as some here thinks? It was just one year. And Yao seems like a low key guy in the mold of Duncan and I would put money on him going to Golden State before LA.

When we bring Larry O'Brien back to Houston, Yao ain't going nowhere.

"Miracle Shot Maker" he is not. The Lakers can thank the guy who runs the clock and the referees for that one. It is not possible to catch the ball, turn 180 degrees and shoot in 0.4 seconds. The Spurs got hosed on that one. Yes, it was a lucky shot, but it should not have counted.

You didn't say it was Fisher's problem that the clock ran slow, did u? What is wrong with hitting that shot whether it takes 0.4 sec, 1 sec or 4 secs? It's still clutch. I used to know someone who couldn't get a shot off in 10+secs.

You're right. I'm not saying it was Fisher's "fault." It was a nice...lucky, but nice....shot that the officials gave the Lakers. However, one clutch shot does not make a clutch shooter. If that is the criterion, we would still be swooning over Moochie.

Reading this article makes me want to puke. I can't bare to see Rudy T coaching anywhere else but houston. I am even willing to get rid of Gundy as we speak to get Rudy back as coach. I would think another year of Gundy as the Rockets coach would be enough to teach our players Defense. So if there is no improvement in the offence this season I am really hoping we look to get Rudy back to teaching offense on this team

I think the main reason Fisher would want to play here if he contribute many minutes or as a starter and mainly the money. I mean the guy already won 2 or 3 Champs with the Lakers and like he cares much about a championship that much. He's not a Jordan that have anything to prove year after year. We need a hungry NBA player(s) who never have the taste of being a champ and bringing in Barry is risky idea but a player his age will sacrifice for a ring.

I'm losing respect for Rudy. First, he calls Kupchak daily for updates during the Coach K courting. Now, he is recruiting for the Lakers without a contract. Have some dignity man.

I hope Rudy gets Fisher. It may be a blessing in disguise for us.

Give me a break. He's the Lakers guy...I'd bet he even got clearance from the Lakers to start contacting guys. In fact, they may have put him up to it.

All I can say is, Rudy is coaching the purple and gold now, he's an enemy as far as I am concerned. I hope Fish laughs at Rudy for offering him the opportunity to backup Payton and a declining Lakers team when he could be starting for a Rox squad with TMac and Yao

Wouldn't he have had to get clearance from the ROCKETS instead? Last thing I checked, he was still under contract .

Dude, where have YOU been? The LaLas are ALREADY talking about stealing Yao from us. Just remember, the Rockets can pay Yao more money than anyone else so they have the inside track here. Also remember, you heard the same "talk" when Duncan's first contract was up.

Rudy T fell on his sword for the good of the organization and that alone speaks volumes about him. That sense of honor and commitment is why everyone here loves Rudy T. The sad fact is that before Rudy fell on that sword it should have been used to chop off Carroll Dawson's head first. As long as he's here, everyone will regret letting Rudy go. Very smart, if somewhat belated, hire by the LaLas.

Trust me, I've heard my share of Laker Fans stealing Yao and I've just ignored it for the most part. But Rudy stealing Yao is a different story.

Yes, we can offer more money than anyone else, but it may not be about money. An inside track isn't money, Yao will get his money regardless, everyone knows this, but it will be more about playing somewhere he wants to play and to play for someone he wants to play for.
