I'm hoping for a good deal but if we don't have a good deal in place, don't make it.

I'm hoping we could get a Brad Miller, Tyrus Thomas, Jerome James trade done.

This deal is looking less and less appealing. What ever happened to Kevin Martin? The Kings still wanna hold on to him?

"Marc Stein of ESPN wrote late Wednesday that multiple sources expressed confidence that a trade to send McGrady to New York will ultimately be consummated."

Boozer will not need max and I guess J.Johnson will 90% stay at Hawks...

Salmons is off the table now. The only way to swing that deal would be to take
Kirch Hinrich. Darrel wants know part of any deal with him in it.

Dude, Rockets fans shouldn't be complaining about the league helping out another team due to major injury. Houston got to sign Trevor Ariza to a full MLE-sized contract based on relief the league granted due to Yao Ming's injury. And the Rockets didn't get strung along for months like the Knicks did.

Nah, Mobley was expiring anyway, so it changes nothing regarding their need to dump Jeffries. But it will save the Knicks a TON of money this year in luxury tax.

The Knicks won't be able to sign Bosh, Lee and McGrady (even to an MLE-sized deal). Basically, the Knicks will need to renounce their rights to McGrady in order to get Bosh. If they sign McGrady to an MLE-sized contract first, they won't be able to get Bosh and re-sign Lee.

I'm telling you, that 2011 pick is going to be in the top 10. I don't want protection on that pick.

So, what does pick protection mean, exactly? Do the Rockets totally lose out on the pick if it falls under the protection or do they get another one later?

And what is protected? Say the Knicks have the 10th worst record but then end up with the second pick through a lucky lottery. If that pick was Top 5 protected will we still get it since the Knicks only had the 10th position going into the lottery?

Mobley's condition was pre-existing and known before the trade was made. The Clippers should have been the ones who qualified for it.

1-10 protection sucks balls. The Knicks will suck for the next 2 years. Rockets will have to wait at least 2 years for the Knicks to give up a pick.

No that means that if the pick is in the Top 5, it is protected. Since a 2nd pick is in the top 5, it is protected and the Rockets would not get that pick.

I think it generally means that they'd get the following year's pick if it falls in the protected area. usually there's an escalating protection, like 1st year top 10, next year top 5, next year unprotected.

Ugh!  Marc Stein is really getting on my nerves right about now! Seriously, I can't take this anymore, too many damn conflicting stories here! First Harrington was gonna be included, now its Hughes, then it was reported that we would get Hill, but now Im hearing that Walsh hasn't given up on him and wont trade him, then Morey and Walsh can't agree to the terms of the freaking pick, and now I'm hearing that we are trying to secretly include the Kings into this, but they have no mention of the ONLY asset we are interested in Kevin Martin, and Salmons, who was reportedly involved in this deal has already been shipped to the Bucks for Kurt Thomas and Elson, so this deal can't be true. Imma go mad!  Im going to sleep and when I come back from class, we better have shipped She-Mac's ass outta here!

    agreed.

i'd let them lotto protect 2012 as long as there is no protection on 2011.

i'd even agree to swap picks in 2011 and 2012 for no protection on their picks. either way when dealing with picks, its easy to negotiate to an agreeable middle ground.

Just get Jordan Hill and the 2012 pick (top 5 protected) along with Jefferson and Hughes and I will be happy

I thought the CBA was such that a team under the cap at the outset of July did not have access to the MLE that season. This is why I have felt that MLE or +/-$7mm was likely of little real effect this summer for Rox.

If the Knicks make the playoffs, the Rockets get NY's pick in 2011 and/or 2012. If the Knicks suck for the next 2 years, the Rockets won't get a pick until 2013 at the earliest and 2017 at the latest.
