HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS -- A league source tells TNT's David Aldridge that the Chicago Bulls are close to a deal to send swingman John Salmons to the Milwaukee Bucks for forward Kurt Thomas and center Francisco Elson.

The move would bring back two expiring contracts to the Bulls in exchange for Salmons, who has one year (a player option) remaining, at more than $5 million. This would allow the Bulls to pursue a max-level free agent this summer, the team's goal throughout this season.

The Bucks would get a starter in Salmons at small forward for the rest of this season and next, without sacrificing cap room for the summer of 2011, when the Bucks plan to be active in free agency.

Trading Salmons alone also signals Chicago is likely out of the running for Houston's Tracy McGrady, as Salmons was supposed to be part of that deal.

I knew somewhere in my head yesterday that Salmons would be heading to the Bucks........................the bucks are a playoff team with salmons.

    jennings
    salmons
    delfino
    ilyasova
    bogut

thats good enough for the 8th spot

Interesting. Bulls acquiring 2 C's. Rockets were after their basically entire front line(Miller, Thomas, Gibson or was it James?) and picks. Bulls pulled out reportedly for Rockets asking too much and leaving them thin at the PF/C spot.

Hmm..Oh nevermind. Just thinking out loud. :) Not happening.

    I'm totally confused now.

Some people on Knicks forums saying Jeffries left the game with some kind of knee injury, and Hughes isn't on the bench, they are assuming a trade has happened...

    Is he still playing?

I say lets not look too much into who is playing and who is not. The deal will not be final so it doesn't matter.

    Well, nba.com could be wrong...

Then again, Chicago doesn't care - they only needed to get Salmons off their books. I'm sure they won't cancel the deal if Thomas or Elson get injured.

apparently jared jefferies left the game with an "injury," and will not return. While I believe Hughes is not at the game either, but Hill is...

According to the NYK fans at REALGM, that TommyDee guy is the most unreliable source they have.

Does Hughes ever play any ways?

Any one thinks Morey has settled for Hughes+JJ+draft picks?

I don't think he would settle for that. Taking on Jared Jeffries contract has to come with a higher price than draft picks that we can't redeem until essentially 2012 (if we just swapped next years picks).
