That TT for LA trade was horrible. Not sure what Chicago was thinking.

I feel within my bones that following the NBA is too much for you. Stop whining.

Nah, I think the "Knicks party line" right now is that they'd only be willing to give Houston 2 out of 3 of the requested assets (Hill, 2011 swap and 2012 pick). At least two of those are likely still in the package that NY is willing to give up right now, subject to some level of protection on either pick.

(And I STILL don't quite understand the point of protection the 2011 pick when you are agreeing to SWAP picks. It just strikes me as unreasonable.)

Actually, IMHO, if the 2011 pick in the swap is unprotected, that might be the single BEST part of the Knicks deal.

I'm having the same feeling Tmac will not be traded and we'll buy out his contract after the deadline of joining a team and qualify for playoffs.

Sorry, I'm not going to read all the pages but I would like to ask BIMA one question.

Which trade will make us better now and in the future.

Basically, what trade will be better for us?

    Morey responds:

    http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/Th.../56171/rockets_leaning_toward_keeping_mcgrady

been about eight weeks since the Rockets and used-to-be star guard Tracy McGrady parted ways, with Houston vowing to find a trade for McGrady. Over the last few days, a number of scenarios emerged—the most serious involving the Bulls and Knicks—and reports had McGrady’s departure from Houston seeming imminent.

But on Wednesday, sources told SN that the Rockets are now indicating they are leaning toward not trading McGrady—for now, at least. Houston, apparently, is unhappy with the offers it has gotten from the Bulls and the Knicks, which would involve the Rockets taking on too much long-term salary and not getting enough young assets in return.

The Bulls’ offer, reported in the Chicago Tribune, is the expiring contract of center Brad Miller ($12.3 million), plus forward Tyrus Thomas and either John Salmons or Kirk Hinrich. The Rockets don’t want Salmons, who has a player option for next season, and the remainder of Hinrich’s contract (he’s signed for two years after this season, at $17 million combined) is too hefty for the Rockets. The Bulls have been seeking a third team to make the deal work, but a source told SN that those efforts were not getting very far.

The Knicks’ offer centers on the expiring contract of Larry Hughes ($13.6 million), plus Jared Jeffries and a swap of draft picks. Contrary to reports, a source close to the negotiation has told SN that the Knicks have said they won’t part with rookie big man Jordan Hill in the deal, and if the Bulls are unable to sweeten their offer, the Knicks would have no reason to include him, because they’d be essentially bidding against themselves.

Of course, that’s one reason that Houston may be saying it’s going to pull out of McGrady dealings altogether—it’s a good smoke screen to give the Knicks some incentive to include Hill. If the Knicks are not bidding against the Bulls, the Rockets must make it seem that they’re bidding against something, and no deal at all is at least something. It’s no secret that the Knicks are desperate to unload Jeffries, because they would then be likely to have enough cap space this summer to make max-contract offers to two free agents, upping their chances at getting two of the top three (LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh) players on the market this summer.

McGrady’s expiring contract is worth more than $23 million.

I love bidding wars, I think the offers will start to get sweeter until the deadline. The Knicks are really in a tough spot and will have to relent to pretty much whatever the rockets ask. I like the Knicks deal better so far, even more if we get Al Harrington and the picks are not protected. You can never go wrong with Knicks draft picks.

But, I think the deal will be made on whether or not we can use this leverage to get the bulls to kick in Sideshow Bob (Noah).

I think we can, and it will be AWESOME. I would be very love to see Noah/Landry (NoLandry), Noah/Scola (JoSco, JoNoSco), or all three together (Scolandrah). The possibilities are endless.

Hair, Teeth, and Bodies flying everywhere.

Marc Spears was reporting a few hours ago that Hill would be included. The sticking point is the draft picks.

What I don't understand is why the knicks seem to be no confience in their future. In fact, if they can sign two star players this summer, they will have good chance to make playoffs. 2011 swap pick could be nothing. They might have better record than the rockets. 2012 pick will be a 20+ 1st round pick. It wouldn't be a big deal.

Yep I think it is a bluff. Problem is, both teams know the guy doesn't have that much value to us.

    I agree...

We are giving the Knicks all they have been planning for...for years!

This is their chance, if they don't get the cap space, they will get no one that will save their franchise. The only guys that would go there are guys that would come together.

As the video says "...It's your job on the line here..." Moery will get what he wants...

As for Chicago...idk...I think they at least have a good shot at getting Wade.

I think their crappy record this season is all the proof they need as to how horribly wrong trading an unprotected pick can be. They have EVERY incentive to play as well as possible this year (they have no first rounder to tank for, and they want to make themselves a more attractive free agent destination), yet they are closer to the bottom of the East (minus the Nets) than they are to the playoffs.

Hell, it is not outside the realm of possibility that, if they don't protect the picks, the New York Knicks could effectively had traded away the #1 picks of the 2010, 2011 and 2012 NBA Drafts.

Because there is still a chance max guys won't want to come there (the top tier ones), and their fanbase and owner really isn't into giving up unprotected picks. Look how they got burned by it this year. Try selling Rockets fans on giving up unprotected picks in the same year the jazz may have a shot at John Wall because you gave your pick away.

Truth be told, unprotected picks is a pretty steep price.
