The Chicago deal makes no sense. The proposed players we are getting are not going to make much difference now or in the future. Thomas would be the only potential future player, but I don't think he's much better than what we already have at PF. I'd rather just have McGrady's contract come off the books and use that money to get a better player in the offseason.

We are asking for a bodyguard for Carl Landry in case of another incident.

So, what superstar do you think is going to sign for substantially less money to play for a team with substantially less talent?

basically it means terms have to be met for houston to get the pick that year. say NY say we keep the pick if it's a lottery pick, if not, houston gets it. so if NY does get a lottery pick, they keep it. if not, we get it.

    it's a big deal

That future first would only be a swap, I think NY just wants us to take Hill, and swap 2011's pick. If they want us to take Jeffries, I'd want the 2012 pick.

As for the Chicago trade, sure the players will not be here next year, but we'd have enough money to resign Scola + Lowry and maybe sign someone for the mid level or a bit higher (also we could look to trade Battier here to clear more cap). With Jeffries, unless we get a sign and trade done all we've really gained will be Hill....

I doubt Morey gives any protection at all, thats the whole point of having a lottery pick LOL

ChrisMannixSI Guys, Rockets will have option of swapping picks. That's the final holdup, working on protection for both sides.

If we make the deal, I hope he does well in the red and white but everything I've read (some columnists and some fans - no scouts), he wasn't worth the 8th pick.

And if the deal is Salmons, Miller and Thomas - I'd take that easily over a possible pick swap for taking Jeffries, Hughes and Hill.

No 2012 1st round pick is a deal breaker to me.

    i can see a bosh/amare + joe johnson/wade going there.

as long as you get 2 stars, walsh will take care of the rest.

I think it just depends on what the Bulls are offering.

I do agree though... 2012 needs to be unprotected...

We would have to let go of Lowry and Scola to have enough cap space to sign someone and we'd only have 7-8 million. If we do the trade with NY we get to resign Lowry and Scola while also having the MLE to sign someone.

Morey's gotta choose one or the other. If McGrady doesn't get traded after his fairly positive attitude this year, we are going to have a really hard time signing free agent(s) this summer.

-If we can get multiple picks and Hill from the Knicks, pull the trigger without looking back.
-If we only get Hill a Pick and Jeffries from the Knicks, not really sure that I want to do that.
-I guess a bunch of Bigs w/ expiring contracts from the Bulls would be good.

But honestly, I was hoping that we would be in the running for a Chris Bosh type player to put up alongside Yao next year. Ultimately, I think the decision will come down to which of the choices will give us the best chance of acquiring a marquee player this coming offseason.
