How is that even true? Iggy isn't by any means a bad player. Hell, it's reported that the Suns desperately want Iggy in a deal with Amare. He potentially expires too, and he's much better than T-Mac at this point. We'd HAVE to take a Dalembert at the worst for them to even consider.

thats the way it goes....that's why I don't believe everything I hear unless it can be backed up by something reliable....preferably from one of the principles in whatever it may be I'm doubting. ;)

Especially so around here....so many like to state things like it is a verified fact when it is just something they heard from someone that heard it from someone. Especially so when its about the CBA, there are only a handful of people I will believe about that without me verifying what is said myself.

This is a little non-Rockets/kind of Rockets related trade buzz.

    POSTED: Feb. 17 -- 1:04 a.m. ET

    Robinson

Chris Sheridan: There are reports in the New York Daily News and Boston Herald that the Knicks and Celtics are close to a deal that would send Nate Robinson to Boston. I have confirmed that the teams have renewed discussions, but there is one major thing to keep in mind: Robinson is what's known as a base-year compensation player, which can be a complicating factor. Robinson makes $4 million, but the Knicks can take back a maximum of only $2.02 million in returning salary.

Just an educated guess, but if Boston was willing to trade a No. 1 pick for Nate, it'd blunt the pain of New York surrendering a first-rounder or two to the Rockets in a McGrady deal. On a related note, three plugged-in sources indicated the Knicks seemed eager to get their business done Wednesday rather than wait until the 11th hour Thursday afternoon.

    link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=TradeTalkRoundup-2010

Summary for those lazy to read: If NY can get a 1st round pick by trading Nate Robinson to Boston then they'd be more willing to make the trade with Houston and part with picks.

It also helps that NYK and CHI are competing against eachother for the same free agents this summer. Neither wants the other to get a 23 million expiring contract.

    Knicks Rockets Final Stages
    Posted on: February 16, 2010 5:57 pm
    Edited on: February 17, 2010 12:18 am

The Knicks and Rockets are in the final stages of negotiating a blockbuster trade that would send Tracy McGrady to New York, with the Bulls still in the game based on the final issue of draft-pick compensation, CBSSports.com has learned.

The Knicks would get McGrady in exchange for Jared Jeffries, Larry Hughes, Jordan Hill and draft pick considerations. The deal hinges on the level of protection the Knicks will require on a 2012 first-round pick that would go to the Rockets in the trade. The deal also would give Houston the right to swap first-round picks with the Knicks in 2011.

Knicks president Donnie Walsh is discussing the draft-pick protection issue with Madison Square Garden chairman James Dolan, and once the Rockets receive word on their decision, they will choose between offers from the Knicks and Bulls, a person with knowledge of the negotiations said.

The situation was developing quickly Tuesday night, as another person directly involved in the negotiations predicted only hours earlier that Houston's decision would go "down to the wire" between the Knicks and Bulls. A third person with knowledge of the talks cautioned that the situation was still evolving, partially because the Bulls had multiple avenues to pursue in trying to enhance their offer.

The framework of the Bulls' offer is believed to include Brad Miller, Tyrus Thomas, and either Kirk Hinrich or John Salmons -- a combination reported Tuesday night by the Chicago Tribune. If Hinrich were involved, the deal would likely have another player going to Chicago with McGrady. The Bulls do not have any extra first-round picks, and thus might be compelled to seek out a third team to sweeten their offer. Minnesota and Memphis are among the teams with extra first-round picks to offer in a three-team scenario.

In the race for 2010 cap space, the Knicks apparently are so determined to complete their plan of creating enough flexibility to acquire two max free agents this summer that they are willing to include their own 2012 first-round pick; they do not have a 2010 first-round pick, having dealt it to Phoenix in the ill-fated Stephon Marbury trade. (Utah now owns the pick.)

The Rockets find themselves caught up in a four-team vortex as the Knicks, Bulls, Heat, and Nets battle to clear enough cap flexibility to have two max free agents on the roster after the hotly anticipated opt-out bonanza scheduled for July 1, 2010. It's a good place to be, because either way Houston will get significant value -- some would say, a premium -- for McGrady, who was banished from the team in December and isn't helping them at all.

If the Knicks were successful in shedding Jeffries' $6.9 million contract for next season -- along with Hill, their No. 8 pick in 2009, and Hughes -- they'd be within about $2 million of their elusive goal of clearing space for two max free agents this summer. Accounting for "cap holds" for vacant roster spots, the Bulls have about $10 million more committed to the '10-'11 cap than the Knicks before either team makes a trade. If the Knicks complete the McGrady deal as currently constructed, they'd be able to get to the approximately $33 million needed for two straight-up max signings by buying out Eddy Curry's $11.3 million contract for next season. Curry's agent, Leon Rose, also represent the No. 1 potential catch in the 2010 sweepstakes, LeBron James.

if this is true Morey needs to sure that the 2012 pick is NY's and NOT boston's though maybe in 2 years Boston will be the lesser of two teams but its probably better to play it safe

    he should be.

he will make the playoffs with chicago.

and he could resign for cheap next yr and possibly contend with NY (if things go to plan).

both places would make use of his skills.
