Salmons was in there too. I didn't like it all - it was expirings + Salmons. Then we'd have to match the offer on TT just to keep him, who could be in line for a bigger pay raise. If the Bulls 2010 pick isn't in there, I don't go anywhere near that deal.

You're correct. The right to swap picks would be worthless if NY ends up with a better record. It would be filed under the worst case scenario of the trade...well part of the worst case scenario.

Like the other poster stated, it's about the big picture. Tyrus and Miller don't offer much beyond this season and they both expire. The NYK are offering a young asset with a cheap contract that's movable in Hill, a 1st rounder, and possible 1st round switch, a possible 2nd rounder, and Jeffries which will become an asset in 2 years...and that leaves the Rocket able to re-sign Scola and Lowry. You couldn't do that with the Bulls trade if you wanted to keep Tyrus and Miller.

The framework of the Bulls' offer is believed to include Brad Miller, Tyrus Thomas, and either Kirk Hinrich or John Salmons -- a combination reported Tuesday night by the Chicago Tribune. If Hinrich were involved, the deal would likely have another player going to Chicago with McGrady. The Bulls do not have any extra first-round picks, and thus might be compelled to seek out a third team to sweeten their offer. Minnesota and Memphis are among the teams with extra first-round picks to offer in a three-team scenario. In the race for 2010 cap space, the Knicks apparently are so determined to complete their plan of creating enough flexibility to acquire two max free agents this summer that they are willing to include their own 2012 first-round pick; they do not have a 2010 first-round pick, having dealt it to Phoenix in the ill-fated Stephon Marbury trade. (Utah now owns the pick.)

If the Bulls can provide a 1st round pick from Minnesota or Memphis then it might make it interesting but as of right now i'd go for the Knicks deal.

28 other teams in the NBA would not even consider getting back Jeffries in a trade. Knicks only have enough cap space for a $17M (max) contract with $9M left over. If they're even able to sign a superstar they're going to find it hard to re-sign Lee. Plus they've been selling that two superstar plan to their fans for a couple of seasons now.

Rockets aren't nearly getting enough back.

he meant the lakers and nuggets memphis picks. timberwolves got a miami and a clippers pick. non of those are better than knicks picks.

I loooove the picks and potential we receive from NY, but we don't get anything to help Yao and the Rockets next year. Why is NY concerned with the protection of the 2012 pick anyway? Isn't the world supposed to end or something??!!
