It sucks when your crunch time player actually hits his shots to extend games to overtime or win games. AB sucks.

we need a crunch time scorer.

The history says it all, every team that won the finals in recent history has a dominant wing and a big man. The only one I can remember that didnt is the Detroit Pistons who had the most balanced attack from starting 5 to bench player.

I dont think our bench is that good to be honest to be like Detroit, they literally all clicked for the entire playoffs.

Martin is a good player but I agree, I dont think his a go to guy. His probably closer to a THIRD guy. Which makes this offseason so much more interesting doesnt it :D

I don't understand wtf Aaron Brooks has to do to get the respect of this board. Not only has he been clutch for the last half of this year, but he handles the ball under pressure and makes good decisions. The only difference he has had (fourth quarter wise) this year between lebron, wade, johnson or whoever else y'all feel like calling a go-to scorer is espn and the refs haven't been riding his nuts all season. This guy drops daggers on every team and is pretty much unstoppable on the three point line and in the mid-range area when the game is on the line. I love how we have been begging for more than a decade for a decent point guard in the city of Houston and we finally develop one and he can't get any respect. Look for Aaron to improve his scoring and assist numbers next year and make his doubters on the board here eat a big pile of crow.

He has the respect of people that understand the game, just not from those that don't.

Even the NBA agrees, JVG talks about him....everyone talks about how good he is.....some people though.....are afraid of Yao getting enough touches.

I'm glad someone with credibility brought this up. If any ESPN writer has been most pro-Rockets, it's Bucher by FAR.

Don't hate on the haters, come on....everyone knows that all writers are anti Rocket.

I mean did Bucher talk about the lack of national TV games this year?

    Nope....friggen hater.

The majority of teams that won a championship have "that guy". Even the Pistons had Big Shot Billups. I do believe a team that wants a ring, needs a goto guy. I'm hoping Brooks is that guy. Whoever says a team doesn't need a goto guy is losing their mind. I'm not buying the whole, "We don't have a closer, we have closers" theory. Not every player has enough confidence to shoot the last shot, let alone making the shot. When games get tight, that is when guys like Kobe and LeBron earn their millions.

Just like that Boston game, there will be moments where you don't have timeouts or enough time to run a set play. This is where that cold blooded killer (AB, hopefully) comes in handy.

Bucher just talked what he thought, there is nothing related to be a hater. I do not know why he could be a rockets hater. As for the Martin's salary, Bucher is wrong. Martin is a 11M dollar player. Of course he is not a Kobe level player, but Kobe has a 20 plus M payroll. Do not blame Martin if the rockets are not going to win a championship this year, there are several better teams they have not won it yet, it just needs very thing to be perfect to win it all.

the 2004 World Champion Detroit Pistons

    Billups
    Hamiliton
    Prince
    Wallace
    Wallace

They didn't have 1 superstar at the time of their championship. Yeah later on, they had Billups, Hamilton, and the 2 Wallace's as All-Stars, but that was like 2 years later. And plus, none of them were ever considered "Superstars".

How did these guys get their jobs? lol. You can't count on mainstream media for any kind of reliable information. ESPN, Fox, CNN, MSNBC, etc. all feed you nothing but garbage!

Common man!!!we all know were making the playoffs next season.
Our role players got a lot of time to learn this year, and next year will just be better.

Yao is coming back after getting a long vacation with his leg,so our all star will be back fresh.

Were going to have a lottery pick, and if we did good last year w/o even having a pick, imagine what DM and our scouts are capable of doing w/such a low pick, they'll steal another one.

And I doubt we'll get an all star free agent, but what if they work something out.

I hope were contenders next season and I'm sure we will be.

Agreed but I think most people get upset when bigger guards take advantage of AB. AB has a lot still to learn. I think he has done a great job for his first year as the full time starter. If he ever figures out the stop-n-pop game, he'll be boarderline allstar.

Everyone has their faults, bigger guards can't stay with him and he wears them out on the other end.

Even when he struggles he comes back and does well the next time he plays someone.

Rondo killed him the first time, AB came back and won the 2nd round.

I think it's the opposite way. RB's concern are legit. AB is overrated by fans for the scoring ability, Rockets will have the worst defensive back court in NBA if they start Martin/AB. And despite of all those offensive players, I just don't AB's decision making would make Rockets a top3 offenvie team. That combines with nolonger elite defense wouldn't make Rockets a Championship team.

Rockets would look good on paper fro all those offensive players, but RB is right again, Clippers will look even better than Rockets just by names, but that doesn't mean anything if the defense and a PG who can make the best use of those names are presented.

That team played possibly all time best defense in NBA history after trade deadline. They can afford to have mediocre offense for that. Rocket's defense isn't half as good.

yao has alot to do with it, but i think the rockets are in danger of losing their defensive identity. going forward, if we want wins, this is what has to come first.

regardless, can you guys believe the young talent we have right now? its crazy.. I almost wish that houston had 2 teams with what we got... i love watching our rookies taylor/bud/hill kick ass out there.

morey's draft/young talent reputation is growing... I'm very excited. the guy really doesn't miss!

2007 - brooks and landry ended up becoming our main guys and grew quickly.. now very respected around the league. turned landry into martin, a guy morey coveted. that's a second round pick for an efficient 20ppg wing!

2008 - turned a combination of greene/batum into artest, which no one would disagree with. it was the right move. also picked up dorsey, who is still considered a great young talent. we wanted to resign him after the trade too! imagine that

2009 - no pick! but we ended up with budinger/taylor and llull. bud is already awesome. unbelievable talent. jt is showing now what we've been wanting to see. could be a valuable trade piece. llull is already regarded as one of the best euro points, has loads of talent. overall a great draft considering what we had to work with.

other - we picked up lowry for alston (a  trade looking back) lowry is arguable the best POINT on the team, young, great mind/character, tons of potential. got jordan hill and future picks in tmac trade, hill is already panning out.

talented, usable youth on team now BECAUSE of morey
    -Aaron Brooks
    -Kyle Lowry
    -Chase Budinger
    -Jermaine Taylor
    -Jordan Hill
    -Trevor Ariza

man... remember when we had an old team? :)

Rockets probably would have gone to 2nd round under JVG had refs called that out of bounds play in Dallas series, or Jho/Sura didn't get injured.

Rockets probably would have won it if refs called that over the back offensive boards by Boozer at the end of the game, or Yao didn't lose a step because of the injury during the season.

The reality is, none of those happened. Suns didn't even win West conference final despite they had the best offense for several years in a row.

Not sure I disagree with RB...I haven't seen anything special with Kevin Martin. To me he doesn't affect winning near as much as Budinger or Ariza.

Scoring doesn't = great player, and from what has transpired since Martin has been in a Rockets uniform, he doesn't seem to impact winning as much as landry did.
