chadfordinsider Big time RT @alanhahn Would be ironic if Knicks were beaten out for Bosh by Hou because Jordan Hill was included in S&T

Morey made the same argument outline here for a few months now.

See exchange below between Bill Simmons and Daryl back in May:

Rockets communicated w/ Stoudemire, others, but Bosh is top target. Met Bosh in Dallas. Have sign/trade framework. Chi, MIA do too.#hounews

    Met in Dallas

What they don't tell you is that you will gut the team that won 42 games, especially if AB is on the trade list

That's what I was thinking but to get talent you gotta give up talent. So, someone good has to go in order to get Bosh.

yeah. the reason its not a good idea is because they will all want the ball at he same time and it wont work out.

Well, they can't all keep their averages from their existing situations. Lebron isn't going to keep grabbing 8 boards a game if both him, Wade, and Bosh(all decent rebounders for their position) are all chasing after them. At some point one of those guys is going to see a decrease in numbers from the situation of sharing the ball - their time with the ball decreases which in turn makes them less effective individually from a stats perspective. Gasol's saw a dip in blocks and scoring after coming to the Lakers. Before Garnett really fell off, his numbers in rebounds, scoring, and blocks dropped when he joined the Big 3 in Boston.

Ultimately those numbers don't necessarily matter, but they highlight how a whole roster works in the NBA - 5 guys have to touch the ball for you to win. Kobe could score 60 a game but his team would lose every night. The key to winning is being efficient with the opportunities you have, and hopefully your teammates are too. On talent, Bosh/Wade/Lebron would be the best 1-2-3 combination in the league, but if your pairing them with at least two second rounders, those guys would likely negate all the good things your big 3 does. I mean, as bad as Cleveland's roster is without Lebron, you could at least pair Lebron with 4 other guys who wouldn't be a detriment to his team while Lebron was on the court. If Miami planned to fill out their roster with minimum contracts around Lebron Wade and Bosh, your going to pair them with guys who would actually be detriments to their effectiveness playing the other team's starters...and that's not considering the fact you don't want Bosh/Wade/Lebron playing the whole game every game in the regular season. At some point your going to have to sit those guys and then you bring in even more weak talent. Not that 2nd rounders are all that bad, but the chances are low Riley is going to be able to fill out a decent bench from that in one fell swoop. I'm sure THAT was the point Morey was trying to drive home.

If Morey can convince Bosh the whole mega team idea is fundamentally flawed because of cap space, than he does have a legit chance to land him. I'm sure Riley & Wade are going to make a better emotional argument for Bosh, but I'm glad Morey got in his ear with the true stats FIRST. Hopefully Bosh was smart enough to understand it because if so, I think it's a nagging thought in the back of Bosh's mind, "will this really work?"

This isn't all the way true. Brooks really would not have to be given up...especially if Bosh wants to play with him. Same thing with Budinger.

You better believe he would. AB scores well for a PG, but other than that, there really isn't anything else he does above average for a PG. Morey is going to look at it like, "what does Aaron give us via points/assists/and defensively vs. what would Lowry give us with Aaron's minutes via points/assists/defense". Lowry plays better defense(preventing his matchup from scoring), could probably average 5 or 6 boards a game with starter's minutes, and probably get's 2-3 more assists than Aaron with starter's minutes. Add that all up and I think you'll find Lowry could be similarly effective on the court as Aaron was.

The thing is AB's probably at his max for value from other teams right now. He just won MIP, had a lot of buzz about he carried the team this year, and of course played lights out against LA two years ago(a big part of that was Derrick Fisher was guarding him).....but Houston knows, Lowry is just as good(albeit in different ways), AB is likely at his ceiling, is a bit one dimensional in skills, and as he gets older he will lose his effectiveness(depends entirely on speed), and he clearly doesn't have the frame to put some muscle on meaning he is an injury risk due to his small frame.

....I LOVE Aaron Brooks - great teammate, good attitude, good shooter(if at times streaky)...but I wouldn't hesitate to let him go to upgrade at another position - especially knowing Lowry is a capable replacement. I mean you don't give him away, but Bosh is an elite 4 in the league and the elephant in the room is he IS capable of carrying Houston as a backup plan if Yao gets hurt. Amare is the other target we have, but Amare has been injured almost as much as Yao and he doesn't exactly come with the ringing endorsement of teammates.

All you need to know about what kind of players we would give up, is that a framework is already in place for a sign and trade between Tor and Hou. And even factoring in that deal, Morey believes that we would be a 60 win team with Bosh. That tells me that we're not giving up that many rotation guys. And that it'll probably revolve around picks and other draft assets (like llull).
