The raptor fans' dream trade proposal: Yao + Battier for Bosh + Ford :D

I remember I saw it on a raptor board.

Stupid thread title. All the article says is that the Rockets are looking for a point guard.

Totally agree that we need to upgrade at PG.

Problem is, there is no real upgrade at PG available this off-season. Well, not available without ruining another position.

But we might be able to improve our lineup by taking Ford on.

We trade for Ford's 4 year contract, and take that off the hands of the Raptors, they also send us Anthony Parker (43% career 3pt shooter with 2 years to run) and the #17 pick.
We send them Alston, BJax, Head, Hayes and #25.

It saves them some money to pay Calderon - they don't need to have Fords hefty $8mill per on the books; it also gives them a backup PG in Alston. Head can step into Parkers shoes, and they get a 'tough guy' in the frontcourt to help out bt taking the tough defensive assignment from Bosh and (particularly) Bargnani.

Use the full LLE for Landry, and bring back Green for a 2 year non-guaranteed-Morey-special-minimum deal.
We dump a bit of salary and get far enough away from the luxury tax to use the full MLE.

    We'd have:

PG: Ford/ Francis/ Brooks (should trade Brooks for a guy named Coppola...)
    SG: McGrady/ Parker
    C: Ming/ #17/ Mutombo
    PF: Scola/ Landry/ Novak
    SF: Battier/ Green/ Harris

Still a roster spot left to throw the MLE at - but I'd start off by trying to bring in Jason Williams or someone like that (Cassell?) at the PG spot for a vet minimum deal. Just a PG who can 'Mutombo it' by riding the pine unless needed.

Anyway - I think Ford isn't the answer at PG, but without the answer in front of us, it'd be worth re-tooling and changing what the PG offers us IF we can bring in a 43% 3pt gunner and the #17 pick.

This is far from unreal, they trade a good PG and one of their starters to get bench players and an average PG?? and they also move back in the draft?
This trade can only be done if Isaiah Thomas is hired as Toronto GM.

I think we could get lucky with Chicago. I think our best chance will be if they draft Rose with the first pick. Many think the Bulls will pick Rose as the first pick and that makes Kirk expendable. On top of that, both Gordan and Deng are going to take quite a bit of money to keep, which means they can't afford to keep Heinrich at his contract.
There are lot's of scenarios that could end up helping us, but I think it's possible. The Bulls may ask for Scola, but you have to consider that they already have Drew Gooden who is a decent player plus they have Noah, Thomas, Gray, all of who are young with potential. They need better scoring from the inside, but they have a glut of guards, and if they draft Rose they don't need Kirk which they might need to dump since he and larry hughes have big contracts.

Lets go for Kirk Hinrich... he showed up out of shape for camp last year cuz he absolutely hated Scott Skiles (as well as the rest of the players)... I know this for a fact from someone on the Bulls team... now on the other hand Terrance Ford is a fuccing douche bag... a cocky egotistical dumbass whom i've known since 96-97 he's good... but he likes to have the ball too much for the offense we're trying to run here in houston... but if we get him he's better than luther and bobby jackson...

Hinrich would be perfect. New start, new offense, new scenery. Just what the doctor ordered.

What's up with this bashing of Rap fans.....Jeeez.

T.J Ford is WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY better thank Rafer Alston. He would be a very good fit, he's improved his shooting, he's young, and he's only getting better.

You guys still think T-Mac is in the top 5 best players in the NBA, so no wonder......

Detroit needs changes, BIG changes and they would love to have somebody like T-Mac. As Barkley said, they've got a lot of good players but any great players.

I like Chauncey and Sheed but I'd say no

TJ Ford is way better than Rafer in everything except being on the floor to play games. seriously is there a season where he's not injured or hobbled for 30+ games?

Forget both Ford and Hinrich - Hinrich is good but overpaid, not worth trading one of our starters.

Ford's too injury prone, Rox are already way too vulnerable on that front; plus, he didn't adjust well to playing from the bench in Toronto. At this point in his career, Ford could be a valuable Sixth Man, but his game just fell apart last season .

But what if the Bulls just want to be rid of his contract and are willing to part with him for the expiring contract of Bobby Jackson and a throw in like Aaron Brooks or a 2nd round pick or something?
