Correct. But he is also definitely an upgrade offensively and defensively over Jordan Hill and since Patterson rarely plays it really makes no difference including him in the deal. So, while he doesn't definitely get The Rockets into the playoffs, he doesn't definitely hurt their chances either. The Rockets fell far out of the playoffs after they traded him last year.

And anyone who watched The Orlando and Minnesota games and thinks Jordan Hill is going to be any better than Jared Jeffries then they are on something strong. I mean, I hate to rag on the guy but it's just too obvious. And Patterson is like Carl Landry without the ability to finish. Those jumpshots will not go down forever.

Trade expirings and Jordan Hill for Landry and Dalembert if there's nothing better out there. It will surely make the team better. Dalembert on LaMarcus Aldridge last night: 9 points on 4-14 shooting for an easy Kings win. And a couple games before that Dalembert contained LMA to a pretty modest 23 points on 10-24 shooting in a Kings' overtime loss. We could really use Dalembert's height, shotblocking, and one-on-one defense on bigs who are successful at shooting over Chuck Hayes. And Landry of course thrives under this system and would help as another closing option. Both are of course in their contract years and ought to play hard. It's a good way to do something about our expirings and dump Jordan Hill if there's nothing else out there.

Because Landry or Scola should not have been playing over Chuck Hayes. Having Landry backup Scola works fine. As far as defense goes, lets face it, this is what everyone here (excluding myself) wanted. They wanted more offense and now Adelman has remolded the team that way. Just bringing in more defensive players doesn't make this team better defensively because Adelman has gone so far away from it. They still have Hayes and Battier who are the only guys who they have had the last 2 seasons that play defense. Supposedly Lee can but I haven't seen it.

What The Rockets miss more than anything is a goto player that will close games down the stretch. If they have Carmelo, they win in Memphis. If they had McGrady from 3 years ago, they win in Memphis. That is what they are really missing. Not more defense. Yes, they score well, but only during the flow of the game. They get tight down the stretch and when they blew the lead in Memphis, they folded.

    ....................................................
So, since Patterson doesn't play now, he's worthless and we should just throw him in a Landry trade. He will easily become better then Carl, though that is currently not necessarily true. Your style of thinking is incredibly, incredibly shortsighted, just focusing on making these playoffs and then doing..... something.

Trade for Carl now (he gave his teeth for the Rockets), and if Morey wants Patterson back someday, he can probably swing that a few years hence.

Patterson is likely going to grow in value as he improves and gets more PT to be able to show the rest of the league his skill-set. If we traded now, we'd be selling low. Essentially, what you're wanting us to do is to sell him low, and then buy him back high. Landry is much older and doesn't give us anything that we really need (superstar/shot-blocking center). That really seems like downgrading from Patterson. Pass.

What skill set, just out of curiosity, have you seen thus far that makes you think that Patterson will grow in value? And if Landry doesn't give The Rockets anything they need (you say, a Superstar or Shot Blocking Center) than Patrick Patterson sure as hell does not.

If you want to go with just the facts. The only thing we can say for sure is that Patterson will never finish like Carl Landry. This is just an obvious observation. When Landry went hard to the rim, he was either scoring or getting fouled.

Patterson is not a better free throw shooter. I would say rebounding is about the same between Patterson and Landry.

So, again I ask you, what is it?

    no more than you

I personally loved Landry when he was here and wouldn't mind having him come back to Houston, BUT I don't see how that upgrades the team right now. In crunch time I don't see us putting Landry in over Hayes or Scola - so he doesn't help us there. I'd stick with Patterson as the kid looks to have a big upside - maybe he will be better than Landry, maybe he won't, but Landry isn't worth closing the door on that possibility. Couple that with the fact that Landry is a free agent in the off-season and it just doesn't make sense to trade young talent for the guy. If we can get him on the cheap this off-season, great - but don't mortgage your future for a great 6th man (because that's all he's going to be on this team).

Landry is a horrendous rebounder and defender. Despite his limited minutes, Patterson's shown he's above average (with the potential to be much more) in both areas. He's an incredibly intelligent player who works hard. His game can only get better. At least TRY to look beyond this season.

Where did you read that? I would be very, very tempted to bring him back, If we could also bring in Nene.

Let's get some big nuts back on this team.

Lakers are throwing Ron out there to see if they can get a bead on Melo. They're probably willing to give up Lamar and more for Melo.

Ron's contract isn't that bad, it is just really long, lol. You would have to have a deal in place for a stud C.

We could rebuild the team that brought so much excitement to Houston, plus Kevin Martin.

    Kyle Lowry
    Kevin Martin
    Ron Artest
    Luis Scola
    Nene Hilario

    Aaron Brooks
    Courtney Lee
    Shane Battier
    Carl Landry
    Chuck Hayes

There we go, let's get Ron Artest with his horribly declining ability and terrible contract. What a great move for the future that would be.
