Portland must of really wanted Batum. They knew that SA would pick him next at #26, so they offered the Rockets the 27th & 33rd picks. Arthur gets picked with the 27th pick. Did we know that Memphis wanted him and that we could get Greene and their 2009 2nd round pick? Memphis paid a price just to move up 1 spot. If Greene was really our man, we got him and 2 extra early 2nd round picks. I would say Morey did a great job. Greene is a type of player that can create his own shot, and that's something we desperately needed. Dorsey gives us some muscle inside and is a defensive stopper. He made be our answer for defending Boozer.
I don't really know. I don't remember Dorsey having any problems with discipline or anything. All I remember is that he spouted off about Greg Oden and got embarrassed, but I wouldn't call that a problem. He's going to have far, far less microphones in his face as one of many bench reserves on the Rockets.
Lakers traded away their first round pick in the Gasol deal. The picked Joe "Crawford" with their 2nd round (58) pick. (not the ref) Joe Alexander does seem like a good player - lots of heart too! - went to the Bucks at (8).....
Swapping 27 with 28 and get a next year 2nd round is brilliant move. this 2nd round is not a regular one. it should be an earlier 2nd round. i expect memphis will be in the lottory again. this 2nd round pick could very well be added into a trade and make the trade more attractive so we can get a solid vet 2/3 to back up tmac and shane. getting a vet 2/3 is the main focus from what i heard from morey. adding dorsey might indicate we are ready to dump one of pfs into a trade bait. most likely is landry. i doubt we are going to move scola. we haven't heard anything about contract negotiation. it could be a sign both sides are not close at all. rox might realize landry demand is way more than what we want to pay. lets recount what landry did in last season. majority damages he did to other teams were in the low block. he fully utilized the attentions other teams put on yao and tmac and the space other teams gave up to the weak side. but in the playoff, landry was not as good as in the regular season due to jazz's feurious inside defense (of coz, you can argue he'd not been what he was after injury). okur and boozer blocked many tries landry did under basket. he did not have tons of dunks he showed in the regular season before injury. he did not do a lot mid range damages. so just based on what rox is build around and what ra wants to use yao, dorsey is good as landry. therefore, picking up dorsey could indicate landry's staying with rox doesn't sound very good.
Lets just pretend he didn't know about next season's second round pick. Taking our pick and producing two guys we want is still a good move. Chad Ford is still an idiot.
he scared the crap out of me for a second because after the gasol fiasco if they found a way to get the #8 pick for more crap i would go over the edge.
Dude, what a freaking moron. It amazes me that these guys actually get paid to write about things they know absolutely nothing about, but should.
really liked him, and wasn't all that thrilled we traded that pick. If Dorsey and Greene turn out well, then it was brilliant, but Arthur looks like he'll be a good NBA player.
What?! We got one of the worst grades out of the whole league!!! Only a couple of other teams got a B and the rest got a A!!! Do you guys reckon we'd have been better off with Arthur?
What I like is how they got around the double bogey rule or whatever it's called that keeps teams from trading away draft picks in consecutive years. Since they drafted a player and then traded him, they can use the first rounder for a trade chip. Cool
fox sports Houston Rockets First round: Donte Green, F, 6-9, 210, Syracuse Second round: Joey Dorsey: F-C, 6-9, 265, Memphis Second round: Maarty Leunen: F: 6-9, 230, Oregon The Rockets traded for the first three of their four players, two very athletic and one very powerful, with hopes they'll make it and give them some depth inside and on the wing. With their injury-prone stars Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady, they need help from the athleticism that Green and Arthur bring, with Dorsey a huge body inside. Leunen is another one in the long line of big guys with a nice perimeter shot but limited at everything else. Grade: B-minus. ---------------------------------------------------------- Looks like Mike Kahn needs to bone up on his research as well. Do these guys really get paid to write this?
bet you he would've given an A to the draft if he had the notion that they got rights to a future high second rounder...
Apparently no sportswriter know or cares what the Houston Rockets got. Kahn thinks we got Arthur, and Ford doesn't know we got a 2nd round pick from next year. Even if the next 2 draft grades come out right, that's 2-4. Fail!
