Chicago has a $5 million TPE, not large enough for both guys. Perhaps they take one for a future second rounder? But I don't see that. They're over the cap and in the luxury tax. I think they're gonna hold off on using that TPE unless they get a really good player for it. They would probably like to get rid of RIP somehow since he is owed a guaranteed $1 million in 2013/14. They could trade him for Brooks/Delfino and cut those guys and save $1 million. But it's gonna cost them something to do that.

This might be the team that has offered a pick for TRob. We trade them Trob and they send us RIP and their #20. So there could be a deal done with Chicago but it will most likely involve them sending out players and perhaps resetting their TPE afresh.

Portland has a contract that we would like. Sasha is non-guaranteed for the year.

Cleveland has Miles, Jones, and Quinn..3 contracts with non-guaranteed deals for 13/14.....and could probably use a backup 1 since Gibson and Livingston are free agents.

Memphis has multiple TPEs that both Brooks and Delfino could fit in to. And a couple of non-guaranteed contracts for 13/14 in Donte Green and Willie Reed. But those guys aren't trade eligible until July 17th and then if acquired could not be combined in a trade until Sep 17th. Perhaps Memphis would yield a 2nd rounder for one or both of Brooks/Delfino?

Atlanta has plenty of cap space and $3.9 million of non-guaranteed salary for 2013/14. I think they've seen the handwriting on the wall in getting Dwight. They may give up those non-guaranteed for one or both of Brooks/Delfino.

Boston has almost $3 million of non-guaranteed contracts for 13/14. They could take on one of Delfino/Brooks and Delfino does make some sense there. Boston is the team rumored to give a first rounder for TRob. Don't know if that is true or not.

Milwaukee has plenty of cap and appears to be losing at least 2/3s of their backcourt if not the whole thing with Monta and Redick definitely not wanting to return. They could use both guys and they know Delfino. And they've got a nice little 2nd rounder that could come in handy for us.

Clippers!! - They have Hill's retiring salary plus 2 other non-guaranteeds in 13/14 plus Willie Green. They could put all those together and take in Brooks/Delfino and those guys make a lot of sense for the Clippers coming off the bench on 1-yr deals. Also leaves the Clippers with their full MLE intact to use on somebody else. Morey may be working on a deal here.

Minnesota has Brandon Roy's non-guaranteed deal on the books. Don't know if he has a guarantee date or not. If he doesn't that would be a nice contract to have stashed for a possible sign and trade.

I suspected Morey would try to trade these guys. If he can get second rounders and truly non-guaranteed 13/14 salaries for them, he should do it.

The ironic thing about this scenario is that the team that comes to mind as benefitting the most from these two is the Lakers

Orlando has far and away the largest trade exception in the league right now: a $17.9 million trade exception from the Dwight Howard trade last summer.

Also, I'm not entirely sure whether Chicago can use their $5 million trade exception before July 1, as they are "hard-capped" at $74.307 million for the 2012-13 season and are currently very close to that cap.

I don't think Portland would be willing to trade the 10th pick for these guys, and I don't think we want the cap hold that comes with that pick unless there's an international player we'd like in the top 10 (I have no idea).

Euro stash = no cap hold so it'd be worth it.

Delfino should get you a 2nd rd pick atleast so im not worried about him....Brooks may be the only one not to have a home by season start...sad to say cause I like the guy...

HOWARD WILL BE A ROCKET ......these are just calculated moves by Morey to sure his hand in preparation of such things to come....and Morey will address the PF position to.

you have to believe there are plenty of teams that would gladly give up at least a 2nd round pick for a backup scoring PG and a veteran sharp shooter, both on reasonable flexible contracts

If the Rockets did not need the cap space, I'd say they would be willing to give up a second rounder for Delfino. Just the situation where they are under the cap makes that not worth it.

It's a shame, cause he is a valuable player.

I'd almost rather no one want him then we re-sign him to the room exception.

These are moves they are working to make an attempt to get Howard. It's certainly not a lock that we'll get him, but these moves have to be done before to even make him a max offer.

In theory we could turn Brooks and Delfino into around $9-10 million in non-guaranteed salaries for 13/14. If we can somehow get a couple of these teams (LAC, CLE, ATL, MIN, BOS) then the opportunity for a sign and trade for Dwight will unfold with Morey offering them a trade exception and a couple good young players like Smith and Ohlbrecht that the Lakers would be hard-pressed to walk away from that deal with Dwight simply walking to Houston for nothing.

In the past, even with larger deals, the Rockets have been successful in moving similar contracts like Brad Miller and Dalembert on draft night.

If they have been able to do it in the past, Im sure there is a way to unload them on Thursday night to get "something" for them.... even if its just to move down a spot or two, or to acquire a future 2nd rounder.

There is no reason for the Rockets NOT to at least try to move heaven and earth for an asset or a better player in the draft this Thursday.

Not sure why anyone is surprised, and NOT happy that they have a front office that will try this hard to get assets(albeit small ones) for players they aren't bringing back anyways.

The only logic behind not wanting to trade them is the fact that it shuts the door on re-signing them on a cheaper deal. I'd rather re-sign Delfino after getting Dwight (fingers crossed) than settle for a 2nd rounder. Just speaking hypothetically here, I really don't care about bringing either back too much.

This, Morey is master of these nickel-and-dime low risk moves. Eventually one of them pans out like Parsons.

I am 99.9% sure we will get Howard so the moves made are not "JUST IN CASE MOVES " but preparation to get Howard done and work on other needs of the team.....we still need a legit 4.

I could see this. Like package Delfino and the #34 pick to the Cavs for the #31 pick. Small, yes, but still of some value. And the Cavs could really use a guy like him....a vet 3 point shooter that plays ok defense.

Spot on. No guarantee at all that the unpredictable Howard signs with Houston.
