The Chuckster was an excellent player, who played a great basketball game every once in a while, when he was with the Rocks. (IMO) That's what tends to happen with great players as they get towards the end of their careers. He stepped up during the playoffs, which is what great players do. I don't know if he warrants being called a Great Rockets Player, but he was great from time to time, and certainly gave us some great moments. Seeing him take down Shaq earns Charles a "Great Rockets Player" title, in my book.

Wow come on...I know he's stupid, but what he did in houston was applaudible, unlike pippen.

    Maxwell Forever

I guess you people forgot how we got SWEPT by the Seattle SuperSonics.
I guess you guys forgot how they beat us pre-championship. I guess you forgot there was no 3 peat.

    You know who changed that?
You know how hard it must have been for Chuck to

    1. go to the enemy
    2. take less money from them
    3. share with clyde and dream

    you forgot..nevermind.. you never KNEW
that a powerforward can get 19 PTS and 13.5 BOARDS and play with Dream and Clyde!

People who don't think The Round Mound was a Rocket great should kindly just delete their account right now.

hahaha nice tinman...i'm not quoting your huge text..but "do the VSpan and sit down" is money.

and hell yeah, let's not forget him dropping his salary for that biatch pippen. I don't think we'll see any of the "new generation" stars do something that extreme...taking the vet's min to accomodate another player even though they're worth much more

I agree with Tinman. Barkley was a Rocket and did a lot for the Rockets. I remember his last season when he got injured early and the Rox went nowhere he insisted on rehabbing and coming back and playing a few more games including one at Phoenix. The Suns didn't honor him but the Rox at the last game did and he honored the Rox saying how great it was to finish his career at Houston.

That said $10 mil in gambling losses? $2.5 mil in six hours? WTF? I know its his money and he earned it but couldn't he have done something better with all that money?

Like Tinman said, without Chuck we don't get past Seattle finally.
And if he doesn't get injured we most likely get to go face the Bulls, winning it all,and cementing the Rockets position in history.

Sans injury Chuck becomes an INSTANT Houston legend.
But his place as a basketball legend was already set in stone.

The Round Mound of Rebound was insane in Philly, great in Phoenix ,and despite not being what he was before physically, brought that indomitable will to Houston. In some ways, his time with the Rockets impressed me even more than the rest of his career.

Gov.Big Sexy is such a character and an ALL TIME great.I'm glad he wound it up here.

    imagine this for a sec...

in 1997 the houston rockets beat the utah jazz in the wcf and take on the chicago bulls...
in 1998 the houston rockets beat the jazz in the first round and make it to the finals against the bulls

so in the 90's the houston rockets make it to 4 nba finals and possibly win 3 championships.

thats what barkley was brought here to accomplish and he almost did if not for a pathetic gonzaga 3pter and a barkley injury in game 4 which we were up by 15 in the 3rd and about to put away the 1st seeded jazz.

i will take that opportunity every year.

Lets not all diss Barkley cause of his lavish habits, he does TONS FOR CHARITY. Also, lets not think that 2.5mil makes Barkley the biggest gambler in Vegas. He's considered a high roller, but not a "whale".
A "whale" is what casinos call the most elite high rollers, about 200 of the world's wealthiest gamblers courted to stay in lavish suites with personal butlers, chefs and private pools.

Also lets not think that all that money went down to the toilet either. Those huge casinos and lavish shows, restaurants and mega clubs are because of people like chuck.

you guys can have the crap casinos in lake charles, i'll take vegas 1000 out of 1000 times. Its the celebrity and grandeur of Vegas that we all love. Not really the gambling.
