    exactly.

yao probably wont maximize his potential on a JVG coached team... but that doesn't matter, especially to him. i just think too many people expect Yao to be a 28/15/5 guy, which is definitely in his realm of possibilities, but that isn't the type of play we need from him for us to be successful.

Yao will play good enough for us to compete year-in and year-out, and that's all that matters.

Do you remember what new head coach JVG replied when asked how good Stevie Franchise could be?

    ....

"It depend on what he is willing to sacrafice" (Not an exact quote, but thereabouts)

Yao can dominate his man in Olympic, but a one man game can be shut down if the other team run 4 guys at him while the guards can't really handle the ball pressure and make the pass to him. Without the ball, there's nothing more Yao can do.

Not unstoppable, rather more fine tuned for passing/shooting. But that's not a complete player.

The Princeton offense the Kings run would be *more to* his FINESSE skills. But not his POWER SKILLS.

Although, Yao would gain better passing skills and gain more outside shooting attempts in a Kings offense. It would be mainly in the HALF COURT SETS...Note, the Kings RUN, RUN, RUN....and Yao would not benefit the Kings in that fast-break offense...Yao could not keep up. Not like Miller or Divac's did. And not for 30 minutes of that kind of running.

The best place for Yao is here in Houston with Jeff.

After ten years with the Kings, Yao would be a 7'6" player with nice finesse skills (shooting and passing).
After ten years with the Rockets, Yao will be a 7'6" CENTER that actually plays that SIZE! (dunking, jump-hooks, blocking, shooting and passing) Imagine that!

Yeah of course under the Kings system he might be that person that puts up all the stats..but he won't get the rings that he will here in houston with someone like T-Mac and the coaching that JVG does....he learns a lot about the game that he just might not get anywhere else.

I thought he was suppose to "revolutionize" the center position by being BOTH?

I like beating on a dead horse, especially one that isn't paid much attention. :D

I actually think that *dunking, jump-hooks, blocking, shooting and passing* is better than just saying "both." There has to be some sacrifice. As others have said above.

Not sure about "revolutionize" either. As long as he helps us win rings! :D

    Poor dead horse... ;)

I think if we had a point guard with Bibby`s skills, I mean *usually* he can drain just about any shot he takes... plus he has high bb iq and knows how to run the point with the best of them.

I`m not taking anything away from Sura / MJ / Wesley / Barry... I mean those guys are incredible, they play with heart which is something I`m glad to see after the SF3 and CM era.

another point... It seems as though ever since *who wants to sex Mutombo* came around to H-town, I think now for sure Yao has a mentor... not taking anything away from Patrick but Deke is the man. I hope we get this guy to stick around a few more years.

I think the lack of use of Yao in the high post is one of the great mysteries of this season. You don't need to institute the Princeton offense or the triangle to run plays from the high post.

We have players (finally) who are good at making cuts. We have a center who can not only see over the defense. but also passes well. And he has range.

I think it would waste Yao's low post skills to use him exclusively here...but how little we put him in the high post has befuddled me. It would be a great variant.
