Why did the Bulls fired Collins back then? Because the players got tired of being coached by a walking tripwire. It was a breath of fresh air when PJ took over. The idea that getting rid of Collins wasn't the best decision the Bulls ever made is the real joke. 6 championships after he left says it all.

What happened on the Wizards is the other players only "respected" Collins because they feared Jordan, who was propping Collins up because he had no relationship with anyone on the team except MJ. Nobody blames Collins for all the Wizards problems when he was there, but it was evident he couldn't take them to the next level because players strongly disliked his loud, tense lectures.

If you don't understand what it means when players lose respect for a coach, then fine.

Drafting Jordan was the best decision they ever made. Getting rid of a coach who had been successful, who likely would have won championships as well, pales in comparison.

He couldn't take them to the next level because they weren't any good. Did you even look at the list of players on that team?

I do understand what it means when players lose respect for a coach. What I don't understand though, is after looking at the roster of that team, how anyone would think that that reflected negatively on the coach. Especially one that had experienced success in the league. Those players were no good. If they don't respect a successful coach, that's just another knock against them, to go along with simply sucking on the court. Again, 37-45 with that team ain't too bad.

Since you understand what it means when players lose respect for a coach, you should understand why the Bulls dumped Collins the first time. He would NOT have taken them to any championships because the candle was nearly completely burnt. Everyone in the organization knew it.

I'm not saying their W/L record was the issue. The LOCKERROOM was the problem with Collins. Can you understand that? People get tired of hearing a voice.
