MOREY IS NOT GOING TO ACQUIRE JAMISON - NO WAY !!!! No temp fix with drawn out $$ - just not the Morey M/O He wants young or expiring - Jamison will not be a Rocket - mark it down.
I still believe the Rockets should have jumped all over the Sixers trade. If it was even brought up. You can't get no better than Iggy and Dalembert for a guy who hasn't really played this season. The Sixers n Bulls seem to be the best team that we can get good players from. IDK maybe thats me but I think and believe they should have talked to them more. The Knicks and Washington are weak teams yeah but their players are really not that good to be giving up a 23mil expiring contract.
Yeah, I'm not terribly fond of taking on Jamison either. I doubt Morey is. If he wasn't very interested in Butler (as Jonathan Feigen has reported), I can't see why he'd be interested in Jamison whose contract is significantly worse. I imagine we could turn Jamison to Cleveland for Big Z and Hickson, and the Rockets may not release Big Z because we could actually use him this season. Cleveland may not do it if that's true, however. A 4-way could work... Houston gives McGrady to NYK. NYK gives Harrington+expirings to Houston. Houston gives Harrington+expirings to Washington. Washington gives Houston Jamison+expirings. Houston gives Jamison to Cleveland. Cleveland gives Hickson+Ilgauskas to Houston. Overall: Houston in: Hickson, Ilgauskas Houston out: McGrady Cleveland in: Jamison Cleveland out: Hickson, Ilgauskas Washington in: Harrington, expirings Washington out: Jamison, expirings Knicks in: McGrady Knicks out: Harrington, expirings The only question, to me, is what does Washington want out of New York? Do they really want Harrington, or do they just care about expiring contracts since Jamison's contract is so large? And why wouldn't they just do Jamison for Hickson/Ilgauskas straight up? I guess the last question is probably exactly why the above won't happen. Boy did I just waste my time.
That's a little overblown. 1. He's on the books for 11MM this year. 13MM next year. 15MM the followign year. 2. We're not rebuilding next year. We have Yao under contract, so we might as well give it a go. Jamison's paid a little much, but he's a better fit as a quality stretch 4 than Scola. Defensively, he can't be much worse and offensively he provides the slashing and spacing we need. 3. Yes, we take on the $15MM for 2011/2012. But that's an expiring contract that can be flipped, and we might be rebuilding by then. No big deal. You take that on for a year in order to land Hill. It circles back to how we evaluate Hill. Does he project to be a rotation player, ++ player or star? I think the deal works. It accomplishes both objectives of reloading and building young assets.
Wasn't this said in the offseason and everyone thought it was Iverson?? Also if it is Jamison doesn't he have the right to void the trade or any trade?
Lee, Morrow, Maggette, Harrington, GS pick? That is what i'm thinking. Some where as planed, but also making a run next season after resigning Lee and removing Ariza, Scola, Lowry now. The ball is in Rockets and Bulls court. Remember the anny-up game has been extended to dis belief i think do to Bulls and NY plans, so GS was added to keep pressure on.
Maybe the scenario is Washington will not deal with Cleveland direct. So, we are using McGrady to get Hill and expirings to send Washington, say, Harrington and Hill in exchange for Jamison. We then send Cleveland Jamison for Hickson and Illgauskas????????........etc. other dominos.
With all due respect to you, Rookie 34 et al - just about every imaginable permutation relating to NY/Wiz/Hou 3-ways has been proffered; every possible 6er; perhaps all Bulls and W's...it's time to chill until the reality of the announcement forthcomes.
Jamison is very very talented on the offensive end. He has great shooting, passing, and cutting skills. Defensively, he's horrible...down right horrible.
Care to rethink that? Iggy's contract runs 2 years longer than Jamison. It's somewhat debatable as to who is the better player. It's closer than folks might think. With the Iggy/Dalembert deal, you lose scola in this offseason. Dalembert, unlike Mike Miller, runs to next year, and is a whopping 12MM. In the Iggy/Dalembert deal, you get no Jordan Hill, the young talent that we seem to need for the future.
I can guarantee you that, regardless of the final outcome of negotiations between the owners and the players union, "flipping an expiring contract", let alone a $15M expiring contract, will be no easy task under the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. My guess is that the days of large expiring contracts being valuable trade assets will be over by then.
Damn it, DD ur God! I always like what you have to say, other than the T-Mac situation. U really have an eye for talent, unlike some of these other posters. If we get Jamison, who I think is better than Butler, we wont have to worry about Scola anymore. As much as I hate to say this, but Jamison>Scola!
