I see nothing wrong with him partying and celebrating...he is a kid and wants to have fun...its summer time people suppose to...oh nevermind... ESPN should have the balls to run this type of story..it's the same stuff they print in the magazine, show on behind the lines, and the other espn crap they air....
It's a better article than most of the stuff that shows up in the ESPN blogs. Maybe they pulled it to actually put in ESPN magazine. The reporter got a major scoop here, being part of Lebron's party isn't something most ESPN reporters get to do. I can see why Lebron's people are mad at him though. They let him in to report their party and he takes numerous shots at Carter and even Lebron's stepfather (no not Delonte).

One things clear, the guy cares more about his "image" and his "brand" more than any player in NBA history. He'll never win a ring, but he'll damn sure make sure he'll be a billionaire by the time he retires.
If all LeBron James cared about was his image than he would have stayed in Cleveland. If all LeBron James cared about was his image than he would not have decided to do the 1 hour decision thing. If all LeBron James cared about was his brand than he would be in New York right now and not Miami.
Ironic, I saw him in Vegas last year at Tao. Plus I go again tomorrow morning. But anyway, I don't think it was a bad article..sure the whole waiter playing dress-up and the cheerleaders was a little bit excessive, but hell I am 23 and if i had a 10th of what $ he makes I'd be doing the same damn thing. You only live once, have fun!!
If you look back in the article it says HE was paid six figures to have the party there. They paid him to have HIS birthday party at their club.
The more I read about this Maverick Carter guy the more I realize what a HUGE mistake it is when athletes put family/friends in important business positions. It's cool he is close with his inner crew, but Maverick is just another kid like Lebron - only NOT blessed with the perfect god given skill to run the franchise of the world's most popular athlete. Lebron is just screwing himself in the long run by allowing himself to be advised by such yahoos. He might as well hire Master P to be his agent like Ricky Williams.... Of course the whole problem with these relationships is the old friends and advisers become disempowered to really give their friends good advice for fear of taking an unpopular stand and losing their privileges of money & connections that comes from being in the sphere of a professional athlete.
I think that's actually pretty common for mega stars to get paid to host their party at a specific venue. Hell Paris Hilton makes money just from making appearances at clubs.
