Even if Boston is the Beast of the East this season, I still dont think they will be better than the fifth best in the West. Just this one man's opinion...

I think it's hilarious that they say Dallas has to prove that they belong closer to the top, but the Celtics are #2.

Am I the only one that thinks the Celtics might actually be one of the biggest busts in sports history? An aging and oft-injured Allen, an aging KG who really didn't want to go to Boston in the first place, an aging Paul Pierce who might find it hard to give up the rock, along with Doc Rivers at head coach who was widely regarded as one of the worst coaches last season. I know the East is the East. I just get this feeling that the Celts are going to be, at best, towards the middle of the pack in the East. The Pistons are still the team to beat, with the Cavs right behind them.

I don't know, but I think you could argue after the season was over that they were the 4th best team. (After Spurs, Jazz, and Suns.)

The final edition of the power rankings before the playoffs had the Rockets at #5 behind Dallas, San Antonio, Phoenix and Chicago.

I recall that Rockets were ranked at five at the begining last year by someone, were ranked at four after the regular season after Mav. Suns, and Spurs, even before than Jazz, but this year's Rox should be real.

Yea when the Celtics (or any east team for that matter) is ranked in the top 2.... yea.. I don't know what to say. Its fair to say what they said about Rockets:
"No West team did more to help itself over the summer. But championship material? We're starting to hear such chatter, which seems a tad premature until T-Mac and Yao win a playoff series together. Agreed?"

But... um yea I know Celtics have 3 Good players, but I mean if thats all you have... are you really a top 2 team?

No you aren't the only one.

The only reason they MAY make it to Finals is because they are in the East. This team would have trouble getting a 1st round Home Court in the West.

    Maybe that's Fantasy Ranking :D

If I had a choice between Rockets and Boston I would choose Houston and that's not cause I'm their fan. Allen, Pierce and Garnet have their years, they are not young already. If someone of them got injured they would be probably done. I cannot say that trio ain't great but I also want to notice that they don't have another players around KG, RA and PP

Just remember where ESPN is based.

They are Boston homers for every sport, remember?

    No surprise here.

Anyway, if Boston is over .500 this year, it'll be a miracle.

I think, at the end of regular season, at least we will be ahead of one of suns and spurs. :)

Boston is ranked at #2 because they are in east. Espn bet them to win the east.

He just can't forget Golden State. These rankings are like the College Football Rankings, you lose to a bad team and you go down 50 spots haha.

espn isn't based in boston. are they bias towards the east coast? totally, but let's keep the facts straight, shall we?

as for your second point, you can't be serious. the celtics are going to kill the eastern conference. they have the best post player in that entire conference now, combined with the best shooter in the league and a perennial allstar.

their roleplayer pickups aren't terrible either. if you don't think they will dominate the east, that's like saying putting yao and tmac in the east with paul pierce and last year's bench would leave us at .500 and out of playoffs. come on now.

another classic example of sports analysis are totally crap.
Its pretty obivious, even to a Dallas-hater like me, that Mavs shouldn't be under Boston and Houston just because they lost to their former coach in playoff.
I really hope Houston can top Dallas this year, but we have a long way to go. But for Boston, haha, i wish them luck when they are visiting Texas.

I agee that the Celtics are inflated because they play ih the East...On top of that they have Chicago and Cleveland to deal with.Throw in the age(despite Garnettt)and the miles on Kevin...No way they should be ranked that high. They obviously are going for it all right now and these sort of attempts usually don't workout. It would be poetic justice though if somehow Boston stayed healthy got to the Championship only to be easily vanquished by our Rockets. They can rank us 4,5.6 or whatever, but the Rockets are a very strong condender if healthy NOW.
I see a parade Downtown among other things.

I tend to agree. I think both Paul Pierce and Ray Allen are tremendously overrated. They are both awful defenders. They'll be good defensively in the paint, KG is great, and Kendrick Perkins is pretty good, but teams will be able to score at will from the perimeter against them. Their depth is horrible, their role players are just decent, and Doc Rivers is an idiot. I'm just not buying them as a good team.
