All that matters is that we will be number one at the end of the single. Seriously though, this team is playing great, and as said, we're the number one defensive team. That's without our best defensive player. Couple that with the offensive players we have, and the fact the we still have Steve Francis getting into shape, and we're looking mighty awesome. Seriously, I mention Francis, because, think about this... This is his best chance he'll have (as with Yao, TMAC, and Artest) to win a championship in his entire career. Rafer Alston is slowly losing minutes, and I believe Rafer will be called under fire before too long. Francis knows this, without a doubt. He's got to know it. How motivated would you be as a former all-star, someone who was considered one of the best point guards in the game, to return to old form for a team that's one weakness is point guard play?
What are these rankings trying to show? Who played the best in the preceding week? I usually interpret it as expected performance over the forthcoming week(s). If a team has a bad week, that sometimes suggests a certain trend. But if they have an established track record as a great team, and they happen to lose a game, it probably shouldn't affect your expectations that much.
I was just pointing that out, i really have no problem with the thread. But power ranking threads can easily get alot of those "the media hates us, waaah" posts, which would be contributing to the GARM's problems.
Predictions so far looks right to me for the top 5 at least. Rockets have consistently broken our hearts the past 10 seasons so we can't really say we deserve any real respect until we prove that we can win and that we are the big dogs at the pound.
Rafer has been under fire every year. We are only 3 games in so I wouldn't count him out. It would be awesome to see old-school Francis back however he hasn't shown any signs of doing that yet.
I found the NBA.com power rankng much better than this ESPN one. I'm happy with #3 but 4 is ridiculous considering the celtics lost to Indy. I'm excited for this tough road stretch. Usually I would be scared and wishing we didn't have this, but I really want to see what our new group of boys in Red can actually do. Measuring stick starts now, and I hope that by the end of this small, tough part of the schedule, we will end up #1 on both espn and nba.com.
Well, I think the ranking is slightly off especially when Celtics is above us. NO and Lakers are playing very well in their first three but the Celtics lost to the Pacers.
Yes, the ranking don't mean anythig in the grand scheme of things, but I like to see the Rockets finally get the recognition they deserve.
