I think the prospect of 4 threepeats would be too much for him to resist. I can imagine him signing a 1 year deal without having to get a pay decrease.

If he doesn't I wonder if Brian Shaw could replace him?

I think he is going to wait until he sees what the Lakers can pull of over the summer. If they can't upgrade the roster I say he walks. He knows with that team's age and Kobe's health/age that they are bound to fall off very soon.

Fall off soon? As in what, 3 yrs? Its not happening in the next 2 and gasol is good enough to keep them up. One thing about the lakers organization, they know how to get players and keep upgrading talent.

If they don't make upgrades they will fall off maybe next season and certainly by the season after that. Gasol is good but he isn't getting any better. In fact, almost every player on that roster is either already in decline or is at the end of their prime. Only Bynum still has room to improve but he can't even play a season without blowing out something in his legs. They barely got past the Jurassic Celtics this season. What do you think happens next season when Kobe looks even more mortal and Derek Fisher is tooling around the court in a wheelchair?

The best record in the west. Those old celtics found something and beat the 2 best teams in basketball. Sure they need to replace fisher especially in the regular season and increase the bench, but saying everyone has peaked is very misleading. They have the most talent in the west and still have a top 3 player in the league.

Phil will actually tell Kobe......"stop ****ing ball hogging"...

the new coach will be scared to tell Kobe.....so Kobe will take 45 shots a game....

ending in another 1st round elimination....

Everyone has peaked with some of them being on the decline (Kobe, Ron, Odom and of course Fisher). Even Gasol is thirty so the best you can expect from him is another year or two at his current level. That team needs some youth or they are going to be what the Celtics are right now minus Rondo - just old.

This is like making a threat to leave without threatening to leave.

    Thank you, Chelsea.

    No problem whatsoever.

He probably is done. He's made his money and I hear he now has to walk with a cane, it's time for Phil to stay home and admire all those trophy's and rings he has won.

Well what else is there to prove? Won 11 titles and now won game 7 of the NBA Finals.

If LA doesn't win it next year, it would leave bitter taste in his mouth and it could be like Pat Riley when he should have retired after Miami won it all in 2006.

I predict that we will not see Boston or Los Angeles in the Finals again for a while. I hope so, give someone else a chance.

Rockets were champions before RA, and I'm sure they'll be champions after him too. Rockets are lucky.
