Ya good point, but when he loses his freak athleticism, his lack of a solid post game will be much more apparent. but i definitely think he can improve and he is a winner
Lebron has more athletic ability than Durant, Durant is going to be top 50 all time while Lebron is top 30 already
It's just because he was this year's #1 pick. He is going to be a great player, but not any better than Rose, imo.
um, rose's midrange game was on point last year in the 2nd half of the season. and it's been reported he has added the 3pt shot for this year. so "never," well you just haven't watched enough of rose. wall is the better jumpshooter when rose entered the L. but rose is more athletic and quicker. i think ultimately rose will be the better player and have the better career.
For a second, I thought you might have a point, but then you got to the typical "Lebron won't be the best on his own team" crap. Sorry, but the guy was better than Wade the last few years and as the younger player will continue to be better than Wade. Once this team has actually played some games, people will see that.
On just about any other team, I'd agree with you. In Miami, however, it's a different scenario. 1. It's DWade's team; that won't change. 2. Wade has a ring already. Doesn't matter how successful the Heat will be, Lebron will always have 1 less ring. 3. When the game is on the line, Wade will be taking most of the shots. Lebron has already gone on record saying he doesn't want all the pressure late in game. 4. Wade is still in his prime. Lebron might be slightly better skill wise, but Wade will be getting most of the credit, partly due to points 1-3.
1. This is not the same Miami team that has been there previously. Almost every player is new, so the fact that D-Wade was playing in Miami last year with a bunch of scrubs is irrelevant. 2. Lebron has two MVPs. Wade's ring was four years ago with an entirely different cast. What matters is who the best player on this team is. 3. I am willing to bet the ball will still be in Lebron's hands a lot of the time. He actually has better numbers in the clutch historically than Wade does. 4. Wade is in his prime, but he will not be for the entire length of the contracts these guys signed. Lebron is better today, and the gap between the two is only going to be bigger in a couple of years.
LeBron relies on his athleticism to be dominant. If he doesn't improve his mid-range shot and post play, he's going to be average allstar at 30. And if he choked on a phantom elbow injury, imagine what a true injury can lead to.
Lebron does rely on his athleticism, but he is also very skilled. As he gets older, he will need to either improve his mid-range shot or move to PF, where he will still have a quickness advantage over his competition. He certainly needs to expand his game as he ages, but it's ridiculous to just assume that he will not. At age 25, you could have just as easily said MJ relies on his athleticism to be dominant. Players change as they age.
1. If there's beef between Wade and Lebron, you can bet Lebron will be the one that's shipped out of town, no doubt about it. You'd be crazy to think otherwise. Wade's been their franchise player since '03, won the only NBA title for the city, and has a county named after him. None of that is changing with Lebron's arrival. 2. See 1. This is Wade's team, on the court and in the front office. 3. Lebron will always be the pass-first type, as we've all seen so often in Cleveland. Whether he's too unselfish or doesn't want the pressure is for another debate. Wade's ball handling isn't exactly worse than Lebron's, can also get to the rim, can also pass the ball, and has the cojones to shoot the rock when the game is on the line. I just don't see how Lebron will have the ball in his hand at the end of the game by default. 4. Wade is 28 with a 3 year contract (PO 4th year).
Durant. I don't believe Lebron is going to be very durable as he ages. That type of player rarely is unless they learn to pace themselves and conserve energy by developing less physical ways to be effective on the court. Lebron has shown absolutely no signs of developing his game in that way. Durant, on the other hand, is younger and already has the type of smooth, energy-conserving game that could allow him to play at the highest level well into his thirties.
Whether he likes to or not, Lebron has the cojones to shoot the ball when the game is on the line. And he converts at a higher rate than Wade.
If they've won a championship with the duo and then there's a beef, Riley chooses which one to ship out based on what will help the team most, not based on loyalty.
