Do we really want to ask Kobe to 'top' a high school girl? I think he would.

I personally think this is absolutely ridiculous. I know when I played HS basketball our coach wouldn't let us beat the team by more than 20. Same situation whenever we were on the losing end too. Sportsmanship was shoved down our throats, and now this? I mean damn I'm all for scoring points, looking good, but at some point it's like come on, this is sick. I would'a been alot more lenient if the score was like 137-123 or somethin along those margins, but COME ON, 137-32?!!?!?!? Everyone who publicized this, coached this, and defended this should be embarassed. On the flip side, how do you let 1 person score 113 on you!? Put the whole damn team on her if you have to, that's ridiculous.

Wow that's amazing considering it came out of a 5'9" guard.

whenever something like this occurs (blowout, running up the score), i with the coach would make a mockery of it. since it was already out of hand, and the coach of the winning team really thinks it's that important for his/her player to further humiliate the opponent, i think the coach of the losing team should jsut hand the ball over to the girl in the 4th quarter and let her score uncontested. just inbounds the ball by throwing it to her. who cares? taht way the record is "tainted".

there's no honor or satisfaction in beating competition far more inferior than you are.

    Um, yes.

I think the best course of action would've been for the opposing team to just hold the ball once they got it.

Several teammates were quoted as saying: "Pass me the ball, I am in your team too, F@(*#^@n' WILT!"

Others in her team were saying: "You selfish b*tch, it's a basketball TEAM!!! You hear me??!!?!?!?! TEAM!!!!"

The coach explained: "What? We have OTHER players? I made all the plays for HER. "

I would HATE to be on her team . Also, does anyone else have the BOX stats? I'd like to see what the other team split. "Oh, and the second leading scorer is... bahhhh who cares...?

dejuan wagner also scored 100 in a high school game, as well as denham brown (uconn). as everyone has said, pointless accomplishment.

the more i read about wilt's 100 and how the game became a farce, i think that accomplishment is silly as well (if the accounts are accurate).

yes there is. for whatever reason, they decided to form a team and to play this other team in basketball. apparently they were in for a whoopin' and got it. too bad, that's what sports are about, the weak and the strong. the strong beating the weak. seeing how good you can be. all this don't beat them by more than 20 stuff is crap. what, stop trying your best b/c you're too good? taking out key players or whatever may be a smart thing to do, but it's certainly not a requirement on my part.

as for getting the record, it's a cool thing to say you did and something to be proud of, being in the record books. the only way it's going to be accomplished is probably in a blowout of this proportion. it's not like both teams can score 100+ in a girls high school game. i'm sure cheryl miller's game was equally lopsided. sometimes you gotta be the team getting your ass kicked. it's not as if they'll be scarred for life b/c someone crushed them in basketball for a couple of hours out of their life. i've been in pickup games where my team was absolutely slapped around, then the next game started and i didn't care and life went on.
