For someone his size with that kind of shooting ability, if he plays even marginal defense, he is a giant asset in the 4th quarter.. Get used to hearing this from Bill Worrell.. "McGrady cuts to the basket, jumps, turns, kicks it out to Novak! NOVAK FOR THREE!! GOT IT!!!"
Come on . . he fighting Juwan Howard for the starting spot It is very likely he could get that job hell . . part of me hopes he does Rocket River
Did anybody notice the box score? http://www.vegassummerleague.com/box_score.cfm?game=56 He did it all in 7 minutes? WOW ( I know its proably a typo ) but what if it was not... The boy isn't shy to shoot it
I doubt the stats, at least the min, are reliable. The total mins of all players on each team should be 240. But if you add up the mins of all Rockets players, it's only 171. It's unthinkable that he could shoot the ball 15 times, 7 of them were 3-pters, in 7 mins.
Man, he's already missed a FT! Isn't he supposed to be like 96% from the line? By that rate, he is allowed to missed on FT in every 25 attempts.
Actually, he will not play. I wonder if Magic is getting more and more nervous that their draft is a bust... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2513311
I just don't think anyone can be considered a bust just a couple of weeks after the draft. I certainly don't think any organization would consider their pick a bust before they could even log 1 minuite in the league.
I think the previous poster regarding this has a point though.. Wade had a much better supporting cast than TMac ever has.. Wade had Shaq, Walker, Williams, and Haslem around him.. along with a brilliant coach. Before the Rockets, TMac hasn't had anything comparable to this year's Heat. Oh.. and about the UConn vs. Marquette game.. ouch for Gay. Good for Novak! Right now he's a taller Reddick without a gimped back.
Found another possibly interesting matchup.. Foye vs. Novak: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=260350222 Novak shot ok (4/11 (36%) from beyond the line), but this part from the recap is interesting.. Seems he was just off at the very end.. so it's like he tried to carry the team but didn't have enough in him to last. Course, that hopefully won't be too much of a problem when he gets to play with TMac and Yao.
I've mentioned before that he fades significantly when he gets tired. His legs just give out on him when he's asked to carry the team. This shouldn't be a problem in the NBA, however.
The problem is that even before he steps on the court, he already has such heavy baggage, which does not seem to go away.
This Steve Novak kid...it's getting a little surreal. I mean we were aching big time for a steal in the 2nd round. Novak may just be that player that people look back on and say "what, he went at #32, no way!"
