Just saw Bucher on Sportscenter and he never talked about us rolling out the red carpet, and he never said anything about him being told that we have as good a chance as anybody. He just talked about Bosh willing to talk to teams that want to do SNT, and he said count the Rockets as interested. Thats it! Maybe Bosh fever has people hearing what they want to hear.

Haha that's a total embarrassment. They'd rather choose to narrow his choices than actually get something to keep building their team with. That organization doesn't deserve Lebron

Unbelievably dumb, talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. If Morey could somehow convince Lebron the Cavs would be idiots to not want a AB, Hill, Buddinger, Patterson, etc.

Even if we give them a possible 1 top 5 pick in the draft plus a probable top 10 draft pick??? I doubt it

Maybe he was talking specifically about Chicago but he said sources said they(Cleveland) will not do a S&T as they(Chicago) would be building a dynasty in their own backyard.

If Bosh signs with us, the difference is more than 30m. Huge jersey sale and shoe/electronics/fashion deals are inevitable.

    This.

    -Bosh willing to listen
-Count the Rockets in [as an interested team] THOUGH it depends on Yao's health. Bosh does NOT want to play C; instead stick and play at his natural position of Power Forward.

The thing with us is we HAVE to do a S&T. so we have to also present to them why that extra 30 million is so crucial.

That 30 million at a decent interest rate (historically, lets say 6% over the next 30 years after retirement) so basically taking them to age 65 worth about 172 million (if you account for 2% inflation over the next 30 years then its about 95 million) That's alot of money to leave on the table when he can win here, (not to mention other than the Heat we are the only other no income tax state.)

    So hopefully someone gets greedy.

If we get Bosh, say goodbye to Brooks & whoever + draft pick.

That being said, I'd rather keep Brooks over Bosh despite my dislike of Aaron's pg abilities.

Nah. Bosh is in the drivers seat. He picks where then Toronto happily takes whatever they can get.

No one wants to be the guy who traded Lebron James. I think they are basically saying you can leave but we are making it clear that we want you to stay(By making it possible for only crappy teams to have you).

I think that's a valid position for the Cavs to take specifically with Chicago.

Yeah I mean didn't Chuck get a endorsement deal just for being on the Rockets with Yao?? If so, that's gotta be a selling point(Not that I want Bosh here anyway).

Whoa. Not to fast, there. Toronto's not going to take back at least $13.2M in guaranteed salary commitments next year (expirings or not) just so they can get "a future first round pick" or some other minor assets.

Colangelo is no dummy. He's going to want REAL assets in order to take on that kind of salary, most of which will probably be "dead money".

I think it will take at least the following package to get Chris Bosh in a sign-and-trade deal:

    Jared Jeffries ($6.88M expiring contract)
    Jordan Hill ($2.69M)
David Andersen ($2.5M "expiring" - only $185k guaranteed in 2011-12)
    Mike Harris ($854k non-guaranteed salary)
    Alexander Johnson ($854k non-guaranteed salary)
[1 or 2 future first rounders]
    Draft rights to Sergio Llull

I know this looks like a lot, but the only REAL assets being given up are Hill, Llull and the picks. Also, I believe the five under-contract players are the most that Toronto could take back without having to waive their own players to complete the trade. Obviously, Harris and Johnson can either be immediately waived or kept around as training camp fodder. Perhaps Jeffries gets bought out, although I actually think that the Raptors could use his defense next year on that g-d awful defensive team.

Could Colangelo insist on Budinger instead of Harris? Maybe. Could he insist on Ariza instead of Jeffries? Possibly. He does have SOME leverage here.

But I have a strong feeling that it will take AT LEAST the package listed above to get Toronto to play ball.

I agree with all of that. Just saying I don't see Brooks being part of the package. They'll want more than dog bones, but I don't see us having to part with any major rotational players. Could Ariza go? Maybe. We are built to sustain that though. Brooks not so much.

The salary is equal? The trade has to include Battier. The raptors have wanted to acquire him for a long time.

In order for salaries to match for cap purposes, the Rockets must send out at least ~$13.2M to Toronto to get to Bosh's $16.57M max figure. The salary matching rule for over-the-cap teams is "125% + $100,000".

Technically, the trade doesn't HAVE to include Battier. But if it's necessary, you can swap him for Jeffries. I think Morey will fight to keep Battier, but he's no fool. If Bosh is ready to come and Colangelo plays hardball, Shane's a goner.

Contrary to popular belief, I don't think there's any way that Toronto takes back both Battier AND Jeffries unless another contract (think Marcus Banks) is coming back to Houston. First, their salaries combined would be more than the total Toronto wants to take back. Second, the Raptors would probably rather piece the "filler" together with non-guaranteed deals (Harris, Johnson) and smaller expirings (Andersen) that they can more easily waive without so stiff a penalty.
