OF COURSE, the new CBA will have an effect on these players.

Do you not know why the free agent bonanza is THIS summer?

Back when Lebron, Wade, Bosh and Carmelo all signed their huge contract extensions, they all (except Melo) purposely decided to have their ETOs come up a year early because of the current CBA. The maximum player salary under this CBA occurs in "plateaus", one of which happens when a player has seven years of experience. Since the Class of 2003 could make the most money possible by opting out in 2010 and getting the "elevated max salary" under this CBA, that is what they did. Their entire contracts have been based on maximizing value under this CBA.

Also, these guys are taking a freakin' PAY CUT next season in order to avoid the new CBA. If Lebron, Wade and Bosh had simply agreed to new deals running until 2012, with an ETO in the summer of 2011, they would have made more money overall through 2011. However, because they feared what a new CBA might do to their salaries, they structured the ETO to occur in 2010.

To think that the new CBA, which poses the single biggest threat to their career earning potential, won't play a major factor in these guys' thinking is to turn a blind eye to the truth.

Fortunately for us, saying that "Bosh hasn't decided yet but will either go to Miami or Chicago" is basically regurgitating the ESPN reports and quoting it for truth. This guy has no credibility until he says something that we haven't heard from the mainstream media already.

For all we know he could just be working for the bookies/betting agencies who might just round up a handful of losers to provoke responses on message boards to get more action on their crummy gambling sites.

And I would put that label onto Brian Chapman too. Where the hell did he get on with the idea that Bosh had already bought a house in Miami? They kinda have people to help them not make major screw-ups by tipping their hands like that. Yeah, these two are going on ignore.

    Is this for real?

    First you say this:

    Then This:

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=5396782&postcount=114

    Later it's this:

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=5392359&postcount=53

Just to be even more inconsistent:

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=5329453

    And not this?

Are you schitzophrenic? The funny part is that no matter where Bosh ends up, you'll be the first guy to chime in with "told you so".

I'll take your comment that you know the Bosh family at face value.

    Out of curiosity,

    (1) Is the source that conveyed Bosh's sentiment to you Bosh himself or his wife?
    (2) If it is not one of the 2, are you certain that that person has the full picture of Bosh's intentions? For example, based solely on ESPN reports (just an example, mind you) if you were to ask Maverick Carter where LeBron is leaning, he's staying in Cleveland. If you ask Worldwide Wes, he's going to Chicago or Miami. Both men are the two closest men to LeBron, but I suspect you'll get both adamantly taking opposing views.
    (3) What were the stated reasons why Bosh does not want to come to Houston? Is it because he doesn't want to come back to Texas -- since being in Houston is still too close to his home? Is it because he is concerned that the roster is not good enough (particularly if Yao Ming doesn't recover)? Is it because he is enamoured of the Miama beaches and night life? Is it because the allure of playing with Wade or LeBron is too hard to resist?
    (4) Why is NY out of the picture? Is it because the roster simply sucks? Would he go there if LeBron goes there? (Particularly interested in this, because even if Bosh doesn't come here if he doesn't go to NY our NY picks improve).

Guys, it will be soon over, one way or the other.

This superstar FA could not end fast enough. We have pressing needs at the C position that we need to address.

BTW, I will at the NBA summer league on July 9. Can't wait to see our young players in person, especially PP.

    Ric Bucher on SC:

Odds on all 3 FAs going to Miami?

Unlikely. LeBron would have to make some sacrifices. Wade bringing this all together. Chris Bosh wants to do a S&T. Its possible to do with Miami but he could be highest paid player on that team. (Joking)Ego and $$ plays a role huh?

Chris Bosh has been elevated into this group. Hes not as good as those players.

Circumstances. Best PF among those available. Has been put into that circle. This is a guy who couldnt get Toronto to playoffs, has knee issues. Can impact both ends. Has not illustrated he can carry a team. He can play with LeBron and Wade but not in the same class.

    Dirk staying? Yes

Cavs have a new coach? They will by end of the week and will decide between Scott and Shaw. Indications is it will be Shaw. Good news for Jackson. He wants to coach next year. Phil they're only option if they want to repeat. Scott not a triangle guy.

If Chris Bosh isnt an elite power forward then who is? I wonder if Gasol could have led that Toronto team to the playoffs or even Dirk? I doubt it.

Not sure. That bolded part was suppose to be in question form(Steve Levy asked to Ric). Sort of something as: "Chris Bosh has been elevated into this group. Hes not as good as those players. Why is he connected with those other 2?" Then Ric answered. As for Gasol and Dirk, you may be right. :p Though that opinion on not being elite or as good as Wade/Lebron isnt alone; I know some on here feel Bosh isnt elite, isnt worth the max, overrated, etc.

Also to add on Chris Bosh. I think Bucher said that Sign and Trade is what Bosh wants, so he can get max money? Can anyone confirm this, I am pretty sure that is what Bucher said though...

    Has this been posted anywhere?

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Ap9CLFrKqctYVETZk77.sbK8vLYF?slug=ys-boshwade062910

"Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo told a Toronto radio station he thinks Bosh “likely” will leave the team. Should Bosh decide to sign elsewhere, Colangelo also said the Raptors will try to engage in a sign-and-trade deal to bring the franchise some measure of compensation.

Sources said the Raptors will try to acquire draft picks and young players in return for Bosh. They would likely ask for forward Michael Beasley(notes) and point guard Mario Chalmers(notes) in any deal with the Miami Heat. If Bosh were to go to the Chicago Bulls, the Raptors like forward Taj Gibson(notes) and center Joakim Noah(notes), though Noah could prove impossible to pry from Chicago. If Bosh settles on the New York Knicks, the Raptors would try to engage in a double sign-and-trade that sends Knicks forward David Lee(notes) to Toronto.

Sources called a potential sign-and-trade with the Los Angeles Lakers “doubtful.”

Looks like we're still flying under the radar...
Bosh has no intentions of coming here probably. Its not in his financial best interest to go anywhere else. Thats up to him though. Personally being seen by a huge Chinese market and getting all of those endorsements and money Tmac got from that crowd even as Tmac was declining almost being voted into the allstar game? I dont see the validity in him going elsewhere money wise. Playoff wise? We have the core to make a run at the Champs as much as anyone with him as the main focus. Those are everything he wants and if he doesnt want the most money, endorsements, playoff ready team, and unquestioned star? Thats up to him. I personally am glad I am not having to make this decision like him. Its a tough decision. Of course Houston fans want him here. Hopefully he goes where he is wanted the most. I know how people in here feel about him by the comments all over Houston forums. I think he would be a huge hit. They all make up their own mind what they want though when they are this young and sometimes its about buddies and partying over priorities. Its all cool. Hopefully we get someone and whoever it is we would cheer just as hard for. Even if its just our guys we keep who play these teams who get these guys only to fall to us Rockets in the playoffs still. Which is entirely possible too.

Yes, he(Bucher) said something similar in the 5 PM hour of Sportscenter yesterday.

And I just that saw that article RV6. I guess we'll just have to wait [and hope] Bosh will at least listen to Morey's pitch. It may be my homerism :p but I still think we have the best offer for him if he wanted to come here.

Michael Beasley and Mario Chalmers? Or are you saying Miami is the best team/situation he can go to?
