    That's true, but...
Don't forget that his 10 points comes from "playing smart" not necessarily because he could score 18pts if he "wanted to." Not everyone can. This is no knock on Snow. That's what I meant when I said he's "no scorer." He doesn't have to be. Especially on the Rox.

He plays within his ability. He's a well-rounded, soild PG.

A player who doesn't take shots that he can't make. Ya' know, it's a little bit different, but I'm willing to give it a try.

To tell the truth, all the guards we are discussing sound workable. And most important, all seem attainable.

I think that is too much to ask if you want Sheed here. I agree that Sheed would be a nice fit & while 6.9 Mil for a year is nice I doubt he'd leave for it. I still think we could get both Barry & Snow and move Barry to the SG and McGrady to the SF.

I don't think Snow would improve so much all of a sudden at this point in his career. He might go from a horrible 3pt shooter (11% last year) to a bad 3 pt shooter (26% career best year). But he might stay a horrible one also. But I dislike his contract even more than his 3pt shooting. 5 years and 30M remaining for a 31 year-old.

Micah, see my post on page 3. I think it is quite feasible.

So, you don't think that Snow would improve due to increased attemps (OPEN) because of Yao?

Snow has been playing with Iverson. Not Shaq. Yao will make Snow better at the 3pt line. True, snow isn't able to create his own shots like Kobe. But he will be able to play off Yao like Fisher did with Shaq.

    It's plausible.

Don't believe me? Watch what happens to Fisher's 3pt % if he plays w/out Shaq next year.

Is everybody forgetting that CAT plays for the Magic.

We need perimeter defenders. I think that Lue will work. Snow is too expensive. The best money would be spent on a back-up to Yao. Cato also plays for the Magic. We need at least one more big body and I don't want a scrub backing up Yao. Big guys cost big bucks. Little guys can be had.

Make a list of guys that could run the point. You can probably come up with ten pretty easy.

Now make a list of guys you would like to have backing Yao... pretty short list.

One thing about it, if we play Howard and MoT together we will be really soft but we should have no problem scoring from the post.

You added that part about practicing 500 a day after my reply/post typing. Yes its plausible his % would improve. But 18 attempts tells me he has given up on the 3 as a shot. 18 attempts could easily be the end of quarter heave hos from half court.

Snow CAN'T SHOOT...don't get Snow. It will be the BIGGEST MISTAKE will they do. WHat the Rox need is someone who will make teams pay for doubling Yao and McGrady...someone that can shoot from downtown...FISHER!!!

Think about life in Philly for Snow under his coach and Iverson.

His attempts are probably due to situational shots that he's allowed to take. Remember, we're not talking about "Francis (green light man!).

Snow plays within the system. Passes to the best man for the shot. Add the fact that Snow can't create shots like Iverson, it leads me to believe that he doesn't force shots. Bascially, he takes the shots he can get/create with the talent he has in Philly.

On the Rox... if you add, intense practice at the 3-point line (because of his new role w/the Rox) and two super stars that will be kicking out open 3-pt shots to Snow. Well, that creates opportunities for Snow that he didn't have in Philly . This is quite a different situation here.

I think what you are saying is that Snow will continute to miss open 3, after open 3. I don't belive this.

I meant, "certaintly are NOT" looking for 3pt shooters to rely on.

Anyway, Drexlerfan22. I agree, having our PG not being a good 3pt shooter won't hurt us greatly. Especially if he's effecient and smart in everything else making of PG. But, still, you have to take in equation Yao's stamina, one of the great reasons we had for aquiring T-mac.

As we all saw from last season, using Yao as the focal point offensively be it scoring, or low post point center. Really wore him out once the playoffs rolled around, infact a few games JUST before the playoffs came. And the aquisition of T-mac was meant to avoid that from happening again.

Granted, they BOTH will be utilized as the playmaker in JVG's inside out offensive scheme, most likely. But ,considering Yao's lack in conditioning, it'd be wise to have T-mac do most of the inside part of it. That is, if we DO want to give the big guy some rest. But, by doing so, it leaves us with only JJ as our only 3pt threat to help spread the floor. It doesn't take a genius to realize just who the opponent will be concentrating on when T-mac does indeed need to kick it out, when the choices are down to Snow or JJ. And let's not forget, JJ also needs to spend less time on the floor.

I mean, sure, you'll have Yao for that mid range jumpshot most often than not. If T-mac should be in a bind when there's no perimeter option. But, think of it strategically, you'll want more options for those 'just incase' situations. The more flexibility offensively, the better with a defensive coach at the helm.

I agree with most of what you are saying. But want I am saying is that he will not like to take 3pts because he knows he doesn't have the range and will dribble/step closer to take 16-18 fts.

Well, what exactly makes you believe that Snow will not only NOT continue to miss open 3's more often than not, but also improve to atleast a 37 percentage by just taking 3pt shot after 3pt shot over and over?

Sure, he'll have those two super stars that will kick it out to him for most likely, WIDE OPEN shots, considering his reputation. But, who exactly in our coaching staff is a so-called "offensive" specialist to just improve someone's 3pt shot by repetitivness? I mean, if that's the case, why were all our 3pt shooters of last year so damn streaky? Padgett, Piatkowski, Nachbar, Cat and to a lesser extent Steve Francis? If it's as simple as pure repetitiveness, to make a 11-26% 3pt shooter as good as a 37 percentage.. Why weren't those guys above shooting over 45% from behind the line?

I mean, is there something in Snow's mechanics that you see that makes you think he'll be a decent 3pt shooter by just shooting them more often or what?

If that happens, then we'll need to bring other guys in. Because we'll need some 3point specialist to supplement Snow's good mid-range shot.

Unless we can get Nash (best of both worlds).

Wow...this might be a bit esoteric...

It looks like our team is already a better fit. Now our holes seem much more obvious. Like, we need a pg who can make plays and drain 3s.... stuff like that.

It seems like with Francis, the only way we could really win would be to have a dominate PF... Now we need only smaller pieces to get the best team possible.

This team already looks good on paper. I think this is really what JVG wanted. Look at the Knicks. Having a guy like Francis who was a combo guard really baffled JVG.

I think you guys are to infatuated with the 3 point shooting phenomenon. Seriously, I think that given the open looks, which I doubt he had in Philly, Snow would be able to hit a decent percentage of 3's, but I think he's far more valuable to us in other ways.

I think what gets lost in here is what we saw more of during the playoffs. I think we Yao's mobility out on the block Van Gundy will utilize the pick & roll more often. If that happens then Eric Snow is a perfect PG to have because he has great mid-range game & can knock down those 12-18 footers.

With that being said, I still say get Snow & Barry :D

EXACTLY. Snow is a nice player, but this type of offense demands a guy that can hit the 3 on a regular basis.

EDIT...ok i didn't read the last page and a half before i posted. So Snow really hasn't been in an offense that demands him to shoot the 3...but would we rather risk it and hope he can hit them, or get a guy like Fisher or Barry (although I think he is a pipe dream) that is a proven shooter?

If we can make the trade for Snow and still sign a guy like Fisher or maybe Hudson, I'd be all for it with Snow coming in for defense. Like I said, I think Barry is a pipe-dream unless he just comes out and states that he will take less to play in Houston.

45% Really? Ok, we're not talking Steve Kerr here....but....
A good 3pt percentage is 40%. Padget (43%) and Cat (39%) shot that and better. Pike? Not sure what his problem is: Scared? He shot an average 35%. But that's not good for a so-called "3pt specialist." He should be at 40% or better.

By the way, Francis's passing "skills" also creates bad shots for others. But lets not go there.

If Snow could hit 37% I'd be happy. Note that Fisher shot .291 last year with the Lakers. So yes, players mechanics do have effect on my opinion of them. But so does the stars they play with (seems like Payton minutes affected Fish).

I like Fisher. Even though his 3pt % wasn't good last year. Put Snow on the past Lakers team and his 3pt shooting would improve greatly.

About Snow...... Iverson was able to penatrate and get the perimeter guys pretty good looks.... But McKie was the guy who could knock down the 3. Snow would always dribble up and shoot.

Barry.. I like him. He's got a lot of plusses.

Fisher... It must be mystique, but I can't forget all the daggers from the LA run.

I mean, does it come down to ability or mystique?

    I vote mystique

I know no one wants to admit it, but we are really starting to look like the Lakers...

Better yet, lets just keep using the Clyde/Hakeem analogy.

Regardless, Fisher reminds me of Kenny Smith.
