    YAO ??
    HOWARD MoT SPOON
    T-Mac BOKI
    JJ BARRY GAINES
    SNOW LUE

We need a bruiser center to add to this mix.

I like the acquisition for next season. Snow is a floor general that will enforce Van Gundy's disciplined system. He brings the leadership and defense that this team is lacking.

I'm a little worried about the contract though. The Rockets may regret taking on that contract in a few years. If they take Snow's contract, they should definitely look to dump Howards contract.

This would be a terrible move in my opinion. He's a decent point guard, but doesn't fit this team well since he's a HORRIBLE shooter. The point guard will be getting alot of open looks with Yao and T-Mac, and we need him to knock those down. Plus, he's already 31 and signed to a pretty big contract for another 5 years. No thanks.

Why can't you just add Brent Barry and move him to the 2 guard behind T-Mac. You could even have a lineup with both T-Mac and Barry on the floor running the break. All depends on if he'd play off the bench, but he doesn't seem like the type of player who'd make a fuss about it.

i mean a minnesota overhaul in going from highly flawed team to a true contender.

seriously, we don't even need that many more peices anymore. fisher OR barry for the MLE. preferably barry because he can back up the 1 or 2.

i mean idealy we get a long, lean power forward... but hell i actually think we can live without it. although... a power forward with range may actually work as well. okur or cardinal? i wonder what direction the team wants to go.

Snow fisher/barry lue (this would almost be too deep lol)
    JJ fisher barry
    tmac jj boki
    howard moT or someone else
    Yao

    BAM!

Snow is a good leader. And he has good experience and is a good defender. Those are good pros. Cons are his hideous contract (especially at this stage of his career) and he is a poor outside shooter.

I guess for the T.E. he wouldn't be too bad. I would love to move Spoon in the same deal if possible so we could lose his salary since we would be taking on Snow's.

I'd gladly take Samuel Dalembert if they want more cap space :D

Why would Barry come here to back up Snow and T-Mac? He'd probably only get 20-25 minutes a night. If we trade for Snow, the MLE will go to a big man.

    this is all ford stated

TRADES: Houston's best chance at landing a starting point guard probably will be via trade. Several players, including the Sixers' Eric Snow, the Grizzlies' Earl Watson, the Celtics' Chucky Atkins and the Warriors' Speedy Claxton make a lot of sense.

What are the Rockets offering? They have several things going for them. One, the team owns at $6.9 million trade exception. That means it can take a salary as high as $6.9 million without sending back a player in return. This might be especially attractive to a team like the Sixers, who have been trying to find a taker for Snow's contract for months. Snow's mistake-free, slow-it-down style would be a perfect fit for Van Gundy.

From a Rockets stand point he could still produce 10/5/5 even in just 25 minutes per game. We wouldn't want him for his distribution ability but that fact that he's one of the best 3 point shooters in the game. So when Jeff wants to spread the floor and let Yao do his thing, he could have Berry and T-Mac getting open looks.

Again, it depends on if Barry would accept a back up role, and he doesn't strike me as a player that would cry about it.

    F' Snow. F' Fisher.

Make a deal involving Barry or Hudson....possibly Claxton. What about Jamal Crawford?

They also need to be aggressive on the Etan Thomas/Keon Clark/Dampier front. We will need some hard nosed minutes at the 4 and 5 this year.

People are getting all worked up because Eric Snow is not a great outside shooter, but lets not mistake this new team for the 93-94 Rockets. Van Gundy will not just dump it into Yao and have him throw it out for 3 point bombs when he's doubled. I'd gladly take Snow for his leadership and passing skills even if he shoots 43% from the field for his career. We don't need the guy for 3 point shooting, and if anything he's one of the better shooters from inside the arc. The guy has very good middle range game, and that is what makes the difference. He had his worse year this past year, but the guy has shot over 45% from the field before, so lets not label him as a bad shooter. I'd trust him with a shot before I did Steve Francis.

i think barry is a perfect fit.

if we thought steve's shooting hurt us last year, snows will kill us. however, if thats who JVG wants then im for it. the coach would know best who would help the team win.

    GOOD!!!

I know people here rip on Eric Snow, but he defends and passes and runs the fast break.

In a couple years, not so great. But we'll deal with that later.

the title of this thread is very mis-leading. chad ford was very clearly just speculating. and the title of this thread + the opening post make it sound like he said we're talking to the sixers or something. he just said it would make sense.

actually, that is not the report i posted about. I was watching espnews CH. 120 for me, when they had him on the phone to comment about the trade. and what he said was something like:

we have no starting PG. snow would be a perfect fit for a JVG team. we can most likely get him by offering the TE because the sixers have been looking to dump his contract for months now. he believes that we might look to do that.
