    He is.

I like Randolph but he's to much of a kid at times. If salaries match, I think Morey should take it.

Tell me one reason why Denver would prefer Galinari, Randolph, Curry, and San Antonio's first rounder over Budinger, Battier, Hill, Brooks, and the 2011 Knick/Rox pick swap?

Can we get some clarity on the pick?

The pick next year is not really a pick but the option to switch places with them for whomever has the higher pick, right?

And that expires if you don't use it.

The only pick is the one in 2012, am I correct?

Sometimes I wonder about how much the posters here watch Houston or other teams in the NBA for that matter. How would Houston benefit from gaining Toney Douglas? He's a PG or maybe a small SG and we presently have Brooks/Lowry/Martin/CLee all slated to get playing time at that spot. How does Douglas crack that rotation?

    ...seriously guys....

That has nothing to do with it. Carmelo won't commit to an extension except with a very short list of teams, and I've never believed Houston was on that list, regardless of what the media reported.

Yeah, we don't need him at all.

Since our roster is deep, I would take a shot on a high risk/reward player in Randolph, who may bust out due to stupidity, but at least his athleticisim would be unique to the team.

Get him into Houston and around some professionals like ...well all the rest of the team, and see if he gets in lock step, if not.....it was worth the shot.

I'm sure Denver would want to take Houston's offer but it's not just about Denver. Melo has no desire to sign a long term contract with Houston. I can't see Morey taking a gamble on a one year rental unless the asking price has been lowered.

The article isn't nothing but trying to market Gallo and the Knicks.

i say we dont get involved, if the knicks do make the trade they are gona loose 3 to 4 of their key rotation players, i have a gut feeling, i bet one of their 2 stars (amare/carmelo) gets injured that leaves 1 star playing with a bunch scrubs making them a lottery team.

The only way you're trading for Douglas is because you either traded Lowry or AB.

I agree Randolph is worth the risk. I know folks are talking about minutes but I don't see Patpat playing this season. I know Randolph is an expiring contract this year but you can use him as another asset depending on how he plays.

I still believe Battier will be traded though. I think we can all agree Morey will make a trade happen. I can't see him having all these assets and not make a move.

I agree, unless we're getting a stud player, the the backcourt is set. I am a fan of Chandler so I wouldn't mind him seeing him in a Rox uni but I also think Budinger is going to be a star someday and Randolph is a tease but his BB IQ is soooo bad, I wonder if he would ever truly get "it".

I am almost inclined now, to wait till the draft and use the 2011 and 2012 picks along with another player to move up and get into the top 5ish.

I disagree. We have everything to contend with right here. And we would still have assets to bring in Chris Paul at the end of his contract. We are in the West, so he could position himself to get to the Finals and play the Heat in the Finals instead of meeting in the conference finals. And he would instantly make gazillions from Chinese endorsements. If we aren't on Melo's list, he is stupid. I don't believe he is stupid like that. Morey is simply not going to overpay and lock himself into a situation where he doesn't have flexibility to continue to add to the team. Morey always wants to walk away from any deal with flexibility to make another move.

Melo has his eyes set on NY. Yes we have pieces to contend but we're just not his first choice at the moment.

Good points but remember Melo is from that part of the country and it's obvious winning isn't everything to him. Playing in NY is truly the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for a lot of these guys. He doesn't need the Chinese endorsement money, I mean it would be nice but if he goes to NY and they win again, he will be doing just fine.

Saying all that, the main reason he is going to NY is...

If you don't believe me then you are severely underestimating the power of the...well you know.

I agree, also chandler would be nice but, the small foward position is probably the most abundant in the league, we could probably draft someone better than chandler considering we got chase in the 2nd round so then why would we want to help the knicks.

I like Randolph's skill set and upside too but you gotta think Denver is going to want Randolph in any trade involving Melo too unless they are just completely convinced Randolph will be a bust. I mean, if they are losing Melo, they almost HAVE TO swing for the fences on the talent they get back in return.

....I think if your Denver if you concede the next few years and try and get cap space and youth/upside on your roster. Then in the next CBA, you become the most financially flexible team in what will surely be an adjustment period where normal big spenders like Cuban have to adjust a new set of CBA rules that will likely level the playing field. Maybe it's a gamble with no firm CBA rules in place, but like I said - swing for the fences....and I hear a hard cap is something that IS in play.

I think Denver has had enough of JR Smith to probably convince them to NOT want Randolph.

Correct. And I believe the 2012 pick is top five protected, so if the Knicks end up there, it gets pushed back a year.

If you had said Love I might have been inclined to believe you but I think your underestimating the power of finding "you know what" just about anywhere - especially for star athletes. Carmelo doesn't have to go anywhere to meet fine girls - they will find him just by virtue of him being a famous athlete.
