He'll be a restricted free agent. We can match anyone's offer and retain him, if Les is willing. I hope he is.

Is Anthony Randolph Carlos Rogers Junior? Just kidding.

Well, if Golden State will take Brian Cook/Joey Dorsey or Jermaine Taylor?

    Just a thought.

I think Les would be willing to but that doesn't seem to be Morey's MO...I remember Morey last week using the words "enjoying the ride" when someone asked him about Scola which made me raise an eyebrow. I love Scola and everything about his game, even own his jersey, but he will be extremely valuable to a team chasing a title or willing to resign him long term that thinks they are a "Scola" away from contention. Randolph has potential oozing out of him and with a coaches like RA, Skima and Turner he can be very muched coached up to reach his ultimate potential.

Cmon its the Rockets no one dominates the Rockets. With Don Nelson at the helm he barely gets any PT to do so. Nelson tries to turn every game into a shoot out.

There's no doubt that Luis is one of our most valuable trade chips. His play on the court, his leadership, his toughness, and that motor that never quits guarantees it. The same qualities that make me want to keep him at age 29. He'll be in his prime over much of his next contract and, due to his style of play, I think he will play at a high level longer than most at his position. While one can never say never when discussing a potential deal and which Rockets players might be included (anyone is a possible chip in a deal), Randolph doesn't meet my criteria for a deal big enough to warrant gutting this team of a big chunk of what makes it the surprise of the league.

Someone like Bosh? That's another story.

Agree 100%...Like a noted earlier Scola for Randolph straight up NO WAY but with more pieces included then it will be become more tempting for DMorey. I'll be a fan of Scola no matter where he goes, if he does get dealt or leaves via FA, and I believe is the first notch in Dmorey's belt for the new era of Rox BB.

OK< here's my take on why the Rockets should trade Scola....as good as Scolandry has been this season...Scola is 30 and is definitely not going to settle for another 3mil/year contract...probably not anywhere close to that...If Landry is in the Rockets long term plans, if I'm a business man, I would NOT want two PF's...both making 7-8mil/year...if not more for Landry...
As as restricted free agent, SOMEBODY is going to offer Scola a nice contract, and if Morey would decide not to match, then we would lose him for nothing in return. Landry is more than capable of handling the starter sport for 35 minutes. Yao will be back next year, so there wont be as much time at the center spot.

Randolph and Duffy are crazy if they think he's going to get an extension at 10 mil/year....Just as a small example...Ariza is coming off a championship year, and is a big reason the Lakers won the championship and he's at 5mil/year...Artest is a proven all-star calliber player that had to settle for 5mil/year. Randolph hasn't really done anything...he's not getting 10mil/year.
Maybe DM can pull it off to where he would get an extension at maybe 3 to 4mil/year? The same as Scolas contract is now?! BAM!!

    1. He's 6'11 and still just 20!
    2. DM type of player...gritty, hustles, runs the floor
    3. A very versitile player that plays way above the rim, can handle the ball, shoot off the dribble, shoot from the outside, block shots, get steals.
    4. HE'S LEFT HANDED! LOL....we don't have any left handers on our team.

It would be nice if Landry started... Scola is great but going to be essentially worth less to us.

Why various members here keep saying Scola is 30 is beyond me. Even people like Leeb, who should know better, has been calling him 30 for months. He is not 30. Luis Scola is 29.

Those are all issues as a GM you have to decide on. In Morey We Trust.

I have not seen enough to make that determination so maybe you are right.

You're right, he's 29....I rounded it up since it's right around the corner...(April 20)...before the basketball season is over he'll be 30...(playoffs)

agreed. people act like scola is an old man. he plays smart and hard and his game will still be strong in his early 30's. i am afraid of the bonehead tendencies of randolph and this team has been successful because we don't have boneheads. hell, the guy is already talking about 10 mil per year when his contract isn't up for 2 years.

As I said, some have been using "30" as his age for months, despite his real age being public knowledge and posts like mine pointing it out. Would it be too much to ask that he actually reach that age before using that number?

well...it depends...you're going to have people that say he's 30 because....he's damn near 30......just like people are going around saying "merry Christmas" to everybody when technically it's not Christmas yet..

    But...as you said...and I agree.

    Merry Christmas

Anthony Randolph is an interesting talent at 20 yrs of age, but there is no way you trade Scola for him unless:

    A) Morey knows we're not going to be able to re-up with Scola for manageable money.
    B) Morey has his eye on a bigger prize and said prize owner covets A. Randolph.

Scola is the quintessential Morey guy. This regime usually trades away blue chip potential for substance, not the other way around. Same reason I believe we're more likely to see Aaron Brooks or Jermaine Taylor depart before Battier or Scola.

That said, we have the best GM in all of basketball.

Slightly disagree...remember Rafer to Orlando so Brooks could step in, this could be very similar situation in that Landry will be seen as the future and Scola could be moved for a younger(Randolph) less expensive backup/compliment ala Lowry. If I recall correctly Lowry was on the rox radar since he came out in the draft and Randolph has been a Rox fav for sometime...parallels can be drawn from these two scenrios and if we do get Randolph then thrives like Lowry it could be another major notch in Morey's belt.

    Randolph/Claxton for Anderson/Taylor/Cook

It might not seem that great but this is the best trade I could think of....

Claxton and Cook are fillers who have expiring contracts.

If GS trades Randolph they need a big in return. I believe Anderson would a player Don Nelson would like to have (a big man who can shoot).

Also, GS seems to be lacking backcourt depth (every time I look Ellis and Curry are playing 40+ min). Getting a good young scorer like Taylor could be attractive to them.

And of course, we get Anthony Randolph ;)

If all they want is scola, im all for it the versatility he would bring to our team would be huge, especially when we match up against guys like odom, dirk, bosh, guys that play like guards.

Also the way landry is playing Im sure we wouldn't miss him that much, it's definitely a low risk high reward situation because randolph has the tools to be a superstar in this league, and our coaching staff is great at developing young talent.

i worry about a guy who's shooting % drops significantly as he has got more minutes and shots. he is shooting 42% as a power forward.
