They don't play defense in GS, so that would be a terrible fit. Offensive minded guards is what that system is all about.

Anybody with espn insider? Can you post the latest on the Randolph. There is a new title out there mentioning possible blockbuster trade in works.

I can now admit I have a man crush on Randolph...I would honestly take Maggette's contract(UGHHHH) in a deal to pick up Randolph. Saying this I would also expect a 1st rd pick...if GS wants to get rid of a crap contract we will need a bit more then Randolph but to get him i'd do Randolph/Maggette and 1st rd.

I guess there are ways to take just Randolph and Maggette in a trade if we are willing to give up Shane and the Warriors are willing to take back so little talent.

    Corey Maggette and Anthony Randolph

    for

    Shane Battier and Brian Cook

    This works per realgm.

Scola's contract is up and isn't exactly a young piece for the future thought i LOVE the way he plays. Randolph can contribute now and has the potential to pay big dividends in the future as well. I love Scola but I would have the see whoever is involved in the trade to make an accurate judgement.

10 million a year for Maggette is something I could live with. He will be a rotation player for that long. Its this kind of situation we need to take advantage of.

I would do Scola for Randolph +filler

I would do Magette, Randolph+ for Scola and Cook. Maybe get their 2nd rounder (doubt they would throw in their first)

Randolph is incredibly overrated on this board

I think his agent said some where in the neighborhood of 50 or 60 million for 5 years.

I wouldn't gamble. He isn't a proven player yet and we aren't desperate for anyone.

I understand his agent driving up Randolph's value but couldn't that kind of deal be shot down easily? I mean, what has Randolph done to deserve that? Its all potential based. He's also shown some immaturity so he seriously can't expect that kind of contract at this juncture.

If we were offered a trade for Randolph with Scola as the primary piece from the Rockets I would seriously have to consider it. Randolph is a player that could develop into a top echelon center in a few years. He has enough athleticism to play Forward or Center and could be a very good defensive player as well.

Of course most of this is based on potential so he could also be a bust. Having said that there is a reason he was such a high draft pick. Scola is a borderline all-star player and losing him would definitely be a step back for this year, but at some point we have to swing for the fences and Randolph represents a serious swing.

That is so tough. Scola has played 82 games the past two years. It's so hard for me to agree to trade someone like that who never gets hurt. Scola is 29, but I feel like he won't lose much of his game as he ages because it's more dependent on moves rather than athleticism.

Maybe GS could be tricked into:
Andersen, Cook, Buddy for Randolph, Turiaf

GS decides they don't need Turiaf anymore (he's been injured most of the season) and they feel like Biedrins will take his minutes when he's healthy. They get Andersen from us, and he's shown a bit of spark lately. Cook is cap relief. Buddy is who we have to give up. A young SF who has shown some promise. We know that it's much easier to find a SF with game than a C with game (who is only 20!). I'm not sure GS is dumb enough to do this trade but you never know. We'd probably have to wait until Bud and Turiaf both start playing again...

    Thank you!

If you can dunk and have a youtube clip where you doing some flashy dribbling on the break half this forum thinks you're an All Star.

Can't speak for anyone else on this board but if you've seen any of the games Randolph dominates you can just tell he's something special.

I can see the Rockets pulling another Alston for Lowry if it's a Scola for Randolph type of deal. Landry gets the start along with the majority of minutes and Randolph gets to work off the bench giving us some much needed height/shot blocking defense along with speed.

imo there is no way this guy becomes a legit center. way too lanky and he doesn't have the body to put on a ton of weight. i think if he were able to add 10 lbs of muscle (not just weight) he would be much better suited for the true pf/c. further, i don't see the defense or decision making developing anytime soon. it would be a lot to pay for a player this young who still has a lot of growing up to do. he still has a lot of basic fundamentals to learn...especially on defense.

that being said....i just realized scola's contract expires this year. which really sucks. :( maybe we do have to make this trade.
