No worries. Morey will be able to bluff the Nets off making an offer. Remember the last time one of our PF's was restricted? Landry signed for a bargain 3 year 9 million because Morey threatened to match anything.

Nets will offer Tyrus Thomas, Charlotte wants nothing to do with a big offer/potential luxury tax.

Not worried. Are they willing to seriously over pay to get him? Rockets already said they will match, so the Nets are goign to have to come off some serious chedda to get him

So if you think it's just posturing then why wouldn't they just sign Scola then figure out how to get under the luxury tax later.

They've done that every year for the past 2-3 years. Start out over the luxury tax but find a way to get under it.

I knew this was coming the day he dropped 44 on them.

If he gets over 7.5m start and they give him full 8% increase over 4 years and run it backwards, thats 9.3m the first year. That comes out to 4yrs 33m which he deserves, but I doubt the rockets would match that big time.

IIRC, During commentary on one of the games last year I think Bill said that Scola told Les that he's willing to take a paycut to stay with Houston. Even if that's not true, Scola is a RFA and after dropping 44 on them last year I don't think he'd want to go to the Nets.

Just a thought, i think the Rockets should try to trade for Lamarcus Aldridge,
Hes a better scorer than Scola and about the same player Bosh is. He
has a great shot and would be great next to YAO

Nets would really have to want Luis to sign him to an offer sheet when our GM and owner has gone public in saying they want to keep him/match any offer.

With the last big free agent (James) finally about to choose a team...

and the remaining free agents starting to choose their teams........

You can almost guarantee, Rockets should, and would use the entire 7 days whether they choose to match or not.

Scola don't want to player in dirty Jersey with a team with no shot at winning a championship. He's a winner.

Scola should get more money than Brendon Haywood got. That's got to be the floor for a Scola offer.

Morey said they would, so they have to......

Les agreed to pay the Lux tax, and if Luis and KL go over 8 million they will.....

Scola probably deserves a contract like that....he should get it.

They have 30 mil in cap space, say they tie up 10 in Luis and 5 in Outlaw, that's still 15 mil just sitting there. They won't be scared of the 7 days or the threat to match, they lose nothing in offer a contract to Scola.

article says they plan on saving 10 mil of cap space....

Depending on who else out there they're targeting...

Luis doesn't have to sign the offer sheet though...Don't know why he would even consider playing for the Nets w/o any significant improvement this summer....as of yet.

The great p.r. machine! Do you really believe les will pay the tax? I mean he's had plenty of chances to get help in here and pay the tax. The mle is availible evry year and the rockets have spent it full 2 times (ariza and swift), but now he's going to pay 8m to luis and about 4 to lowry when they have 2 younger pf's already on the team thats going nowhere? Wake me when it happens.

If luis came over 2 yrs earlier, the rockets would have a big match on their hands. I think alot of teams are scared of the age and the fact a big part of his game is effort. Those high effort guys fall off the cliff like running backs. Thats not to say he's not skilled, but his effort level every play is what makes him effective. If teams see him as a 3 yr answer with the 4th being so-so, it makes sense. 4yr and 33m is a good place for scola, but i guess we will see. After the lebron-a-thon, some of the other free agents will start to sign.

Most of fans seem to forget how EXTREMEDLY DURABLE Scola is....
Do you realize he has not missed due to injury one single match (pre-season, regular season, playoff)....since arriving to NBA? how many players can say that?

He's 30 since April, but his body is more durable than most young athletic freaks.....besides, his playing stylke doesn't rely in athleticism at all (the first thing lost with age), instead it relies more in very solid fundamentals and very high Baskebtall IQ, wich are not lost with age....

Players like him in Europe can play until his late 30s at their best shape....
Even in NBA, Michael Jordan got his 6th finals MVP and his 6th ring at 35.....

What makes you think that a guy so durable as Scola won't be playing at his best at 35? could anybody explain why people are so afraid because Scola is 30?
