I think something happened, but there is no proof, and it has zero impact on the discussion here about them matching or not matching Scola.

Morey has said he would match, why do people think he is lying about it?

Does he have a history of lying?

Look, whatever, I believe he is tellling the truth......so expect him to live up to his word.

Obviously not for a championship aspiring team. That said, Scola is an excellent piece. The Rox have many many very good pieces; no gaping holes. Play-off challengers; not championship challengers.

So, back to NJN - if they are, indeed, quite serious about wanting LS4 then a deal is doable for the #3 overall and lux cap relief. It seems like a reasonable assumption that it could be that it is being considered by both the Nyets and DM the GM.

The Rockets won a championship with Chucky Brown starting at PF......

Every position does not have to be an all star to win.

The Good Guys won a championship, two championships, because they had the world's best and most dominating player. From @1993 - 1997 (four years) the very best player on the planet was not a would be baseball player (two years) but the nearly forgotten and always unbelievable Dream.

I agree, and Scola is way better than Chucky Brown....so he is a keeper, IMO.

I believe he is the heart of the team.

The Nets will be wasting their time with the offer as there's a 100% chance we'll match.

Nets preparing "Big Money" for Scola

wondering how "big" it is. i don't think DM'd match anything more than $10M/yr. resonably $7~$8M/yr. might forced to overpay for $9~$10M/yr. but I don't see anything more than $10mil./yr. I just don't see how Scola and the Nets a good match w/ Lopez and Favors on board. why Scola would want to come off bench for a lottory team?

$7M is about a full MLE level type of deal. Scola's worth more than the full MLE so I'd say he won't be overpaid if it's a $8M to $10M/yr deal.

I'm gonna sound dumb for this, but what do they mean by big money, and wouldn't Scola or his agent need to meet with the Nets before they offer him a contract?

At $10 million a year, he is rightly priced.

I don't think Morey's threat of matching will have its typical effect.

Nets have plenty of cap space and having it tied up in an offer sheet for Scola won't prevent them from signing other guys, especially since there really aren't any max players out there now.

They have nothing to lose by making Scola an offer.

Exactly, Morey's threat about tying them up for 7 days is irrelevent with them they still have max $$$ available......so can make as many offers as they want.

What they could do though to really pressure Morey is offer Luis $10 million and Kyle $5 million at the same time......that would put some serious pressure on DM and the Rox.

I think that takes them completely out of being contenders.......we would be way too young at the PF spot.

But Morey following through with his threats does set a good precedent for the future.

    Don't quite agree.
The Nets, from what I've seen and read, still have interest in going out and attempting to grab a max free agent next year. Consequently, they absolutely are forced to leave significant of their cap space untouched in preparation for that.
They can still give a big offer to Scola, but nothing completely outrageous, and we'll match. Nothing to be worried about.
