I guess Morey would try to do a S&T Scola for a TPE+ a 2nd round pick from the nets. So far, it seems the focus of the rockets is cap space in 2011 summer. I cannot see that they will give Scola a big & long contract. The only possibility that the rockets will match Scola's offer is that the contract is really cheap so that the rockets could trade Scola as an asset in future. From the rockets recent actions, we can see that they don't think Scola is the answer for rockets' PF in future.
We are going to match 4 year $40 million. We've got Patterson in the wings on a rookie deal. When Scola's contract is over, Patterson will be ready for his big money deal. However, if there were some sort of S&T deal that upgrades this team using Scola, I'm sure Morey would pursue it. Just don't see what that deal would be right now.
They would sign him for 4 years.....he is a top 15 PF in the NBA, you don't let those walk, no matter how much you like your rookies. They traded Landry to clear room for him, Scola may be the most undervalued guy on this board. His hustle and heart are infectious, he gets everyone up. DD
No, I don't think so.....they knew Scola was better than Landry and needed a quality SG and got one in Martin. DD
Yes, but. I agree, but. Why would Nets be so high on Scola to offer major $$$ and so high on their #3 overall selection? DM the GM said he would have taken Favors at #2 if the trade with Philly had gone through - and DF is not yet signed. My 2 + 2 addition makes me wonder if there is a deal in the works/under consideration. My 2 + 2 addition also says if such a deal materializes then lux cap is avoided. Again. But, of course, my math skills are not world class.
That's not true either. The rockets traded Landry to the kings because the kings wanted Landry. That's the kings' choice.
You are just arguing to argue, of course they wanted him, and the Rockets wanted Martin....... And the Rockets knew they had a better player in Scola already at that postion...look at how they each performed when their minutes/roles increased. Landry got a lot less efficient and his numbers flat lined, while Luis actually improved his efficiency and his contributions went up exponentially. Luis is way better than Landry. DD
I think Morey would really hesitate if it hit 12 million. And definitely decline if it's more than that.
I think we all know that Morey tried to trade Scola+Battier for Stoudemire right after the Landry-Martin deal. Obviously, Morey and rockets think both Scola & Landry are not the anwer for the starting PF position.
Allegedly, but no proof....just pure speculation. LOL - whatever. Of course anyone would like to upgrade, but I doubt they are targeting that area. DD
A day or two later Morey was on the radio, when asked about that deal he said something along the lines of - sigh, it sucks when stuff like that gets out there. I got the feeling he was owning up to it. I think it was a little more than pure speculation.
Of course, you always try to upgrade, but I think the Rockets and most of us Clutchfans knew that was VERY unlikely. DD
