Exactly, I see Knicks and Melo waiting for next summer. But it wouldn't surprise me if another team rents Melo, since I don't see Denver waiting around. If Melo signs the max, then New York has to waive Chandler. But if Melo was about the money he would do the extension with New Jersey.

We can 99% assume Melo will only play for the Knicks, thus will not sign any extension with other clubs for this year rental.

Thus Rockets will give he most assets to Denver for a 1 year Rental.

    Give them

    Anthony / Harrington
    Yao / Jefferies

I don't see how Melo's agent working hard with the Nets will encourage the Nuggets to take less from the Knicks. Seems to me the best way to do that would be stonewalling every team but the Knicks and telling the Nuggets they better make a deal with them or else.

Maybe if the Nets change their name to the Brooklyn Melo's. Why not. Lebron would be a putrid green with envy.

This guy is not worth all this hassle... he isn't in the same class as James, Wade, Kobe or even a healthy T-Mac. He is a chucker that doesn't defend or play smart.

Muchly agreed, he is good but not THAT good. I think he saw all the hype that LeBron got last year and wants similar sort of attention. 'OMG MELO TO NJ!' No one cares that much...Well at least I don't.

At this point, Melo's probably just going to hold out for the Knicks. Why would he settle for a team that falls short in every way possible to them? Even when the Nets move to Brooklyn, the Knicks will always own that city. And if they continue to play well like they are, the gap is only going to grow. Carmelo understands that he would be settling for the Nets, and at this point in his career, he didn't work this hard to settle. He wants the Knicks, and he will do whatever it takes to get there.

Melo is not acting like LeBron. Lebron had 4 teams that he was rumored to go to.

Melo has said all alone he wants to go to New York. IF he wanted attention he would be throwing all type of teams names around.

If you are the Nets, Melo is more than worth the hassle.

In fact, for the vast majority of the teams in the NBA, Melo is worth the hassle.

Good god! Tracy is not in any of their class!!!! Tracy is and was always "Fools Gold". Melo is still able to control his own future.

Notice how you've added Tracy to the list of 3 of the current best players in the league. Difference being that those guys have lead their teams to playoff success. He doesn't belong there. Quit the knob slobbing.

I think there's a decent shot that Melo ends up in Houston if NJ can't land him.

can people not read? he would have said the same thing about ny, he's not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed and its obvious he's sticking to what he's probably been told by his agent "you can't talk to or about anyone" and isn't willing to take the press' word that it's ok if the nuggets allow it, he won't say he'll do to it until the denver gm tells him he can.

If Melo doesn't want to sign an extension with NJ, Morey can rape....i mean low-ball the Nuggets and who's to say he won't be in a Ketchup & Mustard state of mind after the season and resign?

But why would Melo like Houston and not New Jersey (Brooklyn, home)?

Pretty much means we would be renting him for the rest of the season.

Carmelo keeps holding out hope for the Knicks to step to the plate, so this all gets dragged out.

Meanwhile, various teams and his own agents, all with their own agendas, keep spinning this thing crazily.
