I think one of his "hidden ratings" that deals with dunking is like a 99. Most everybody else had like a 50. He has a lot of high hidden ratings IIRC.

BTW, what I mean by hidden ratings are ratings that Sega really didn't make known, or at least not easily. IIRC, T-Mac had higher regular ratings than Kobe in last years, and probably this years version, but both had the same overall rating. That is because Kobe's hidden ratings are much higher than T-Mac's.

You can see them in this game by going to a fantasy draft. All the ratings are there. Some of them that I can remember are dunk standing, dunk range, pass/shoot, and I think clutch is one. I think only a few special players have good ratings while others have 50's.

Rockstar REALLY wanted to release the game on Xbox and had the idea as far as just calling it Vice City without the GTA name and change the characters. Sony went ahead and let them release it on XBox but has exclusives on the next one.

Ok, I picked the game up yesterday. It looks nice, but I do miss the player intros, and its way to easy to have your shot blocked. I also hate the fact that you can only run 4 plays. If Yao is going up against a midget, I want to post him up every time. However, now when I run the post play, I can't decide which player posts up. Anyone know how to fix that?

Also, everytime I try to do a crossover with Stevie, I have to wait like 6 seconds before he stops trying to cross his man. I know that's realistic as far as the Rockets are concerned, but it's got to be some way to stop him from doing that.

And where do I go to find the on-line rosters, downloads, etc?

    Found some cheats:

In 24/7 mode, if you have spare time and want to increase your attributes points easily, what better than if the opponent you are training against is... not the computer, but controller #2?

So the guy your training against will be pretty much inactive and you will be able to dunk and dunk and 3pts and 3pts, and you can make him shoot with one hand on controller #2, and with your 24/7 player on controller#1 you block his shot so you gain block shot points.

To be able to do that it's pretty easy, have 2 controllers, play a normal game (not 24/7) with the 2 controllers on each team(you can reduce the min/quarter to 1minute so you dont have to wait too long), and finish the game.

Then with controller #1 (important) you load your 24/7 player, and go into training. That way you'll have controller #2 controlling the guy against you, but don't quit any game before it's done, no training before its done, or no tournaments before its done, or it will stop working.

    Another cheat:

this has got to be the greatest glitch of all time. i created a player bought him into franchise mode simulated for a year then exported the team back out to regular mode. then took him and put him on the free agent list then deleted the original version of him and guess what the exported version of him was still there but a year older. u guys know when you create a player he is always a rookie right. well this glitch solves that problem. if u wanted to create a 8 year veteran then just do the said above and after his eight year export him back out put him on free agent lis then put the original version of him on the free agent list then delete him then save your roster and vwallah created player without created player space wit the amount of years u want. even with rookies they dont give us in the roster update just create him he will be on free agent list after you create him go into a franchise wit the roster u created him in make sure your created player is on the team u export then immediately export your team back to regular game mode then get the original version of created player on free agent list and delete him. now your exported team will still have him on your exported team then u move him to free agency or the team of your choice and its like he is a part of the original programs design instead of a created player. you can even do this trick with rookies in the draft in franchise if you wanted. as soon as you draft the rookies on your team just export your team back out of franchise after your done and follow the steps above. [***] u can even make duplicate players. you want 2 lebrons in your game just do dat trick it works believe me. also the replay on this game is sky high now cause of this cause next year while im waitin for 2k5 to come out im going to use college hoops for the rookies and export my entire game back out of my franchise. u would have to control all 29 teams but im going to do this just to make them a year older. and now wit this trick u can retire anyone u want to just put whoever you want out of your game on the exported team and delete that team and bye bye playa. why dont yall try it and tell me wot yall think. do yall think i should get a prize for this cause this trick is ill

Comments by the Creator (Arenas809): These sliders were made to the specifications of those who play the game just as if they were playing real
basketball. I think you will see a much "improved" 2K4, as I have not stopped playing the game the past few days. You will now be getting to line more, as will the computer, you will notice the CPU sagging off guys who can't shoot jumpers, blocking fouls,
and your dunks, layups will be contested, a lot of times resulting in fouls and not easy buckets.

Don't play a quarter and say hey we shot 30% or 60% and start thinking sliders are bad, play a game or 2 and you will see for yourself the stats are very realistic.

I know there has been a lot of confusion/frustration regarding isomotion, and here are my tips for using isomotion...

    1. Isomotion is NOT freestyle so you can't use it as such. I use isomotion as a means to create space more so than to get to the
basket. In some cases you will now be able to blow by a guy just because you're quicker, and won't need isomotion and sometimes you will be able to use it to get to the basket. You can create space you need, especially for jumpers, by crossing over to freeze the defender, or jab step, then step back. Space is KEY.

    2. Isomotion does lead to a lot of charges. Now with these sliders, you will see some no calls on "charges", but if you pay attention, you can avoid the charges that would normally be called. 80-85% of the time you can see that the defensive player has anticipated your move and beat you to the spot which could result in a charge, as soon as you see that, step back, and it will stop you from
    running into the guy.

Lastly this game isn't perfect, but it's a great game. I will note now, the "jogging" the D or O does sometimes on fast breaks is not fixable, neither is post players sometimes doing windmills in the post, those are just issues the game has and better be fixed next year. Also some players do need to be edited. Some players are overrated and some underrated (EDDY CURRY), some players just have a rating or 2 wrong, such as J.R. Bremer's 70 dunk rating. Some players ballhandling ratings need to be edited, that slider is a tweener slider. If you move it up 1, Maggette has Iverson type handles, where its at now he has Jaric type handles, edit his rating to like 88 and he has great handles but not Iverson type. See for yourself the difference between a 88 BH rating and a 92 BH rating. Some sliders are like this, if you'd like help or need any advice on editing some players, or want to know why this slider is this way or that way please don't be afraid to ask.

Enjoy the game, try playing a game as the Nuggets or Heat, then play as the Bulls or Celtics, then play as the Mavs or Lakers, and you will see the difference. I'm convinced I can't win with the Nuggets, if Melo is off, it feels like its over. If you play as the Heat, just like Jones and Odom take all the shots.

Getting legends into the franchise mode:

    1. go to franchise and turn the costimize league option on!

    2. change one of the teams to a ledgend team.

    3. pick two teams 1 normal and 1 ledgend.

    4. trade ledgend to your normal team

    5. export your normal team.

    6. now that your ledgend is on a normal team you can move him wherever you want.

    Post move:

Posted: Thu Oct 30, 2003 6:32 pm Post subject: cpu post move (fake pass) = SOLVED!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i have to give props to my man dwaynedibbley because something he said in another post gave me a thought about how to figure this out.

if you want to be able to do the head fake/fake pass from the post, get your pg on the perimeter and call for the post up play. when one of your big men gets down on the blocks and calls for the ball, pass it to him. note: HE HAS TO BE CALLING FOR IT, as in, working for positiong against a defender. while the ball is in the air, hold down L1 to start the back down BEFORE the ball gets there. then, when he catches it, he'll go into a non-dribbling back down position. from there, while still holding L1, push the left analog stick towards the side of the court you're standing on (right block = right, left block = left) to perform the elusive fake pass/head fake.

    AAHHHHH!!!!

I just got it the other day and have only played it for about an hour total, but I'm still not sold on it yet.

    NEGATIVE:

Defense SUX in this game. I can't imagine what it's like in Live. I'm aware of the sliders, but there's no way to change it for charging or offensive fould to a great extent. Way, WAAAAAAAYYY too many charging calls when I'm trying to use the completely random and randomly directional ISOmotion. Those 4 plays are complete ****. They never work. There's no point for any plays. What's the point of a timeout in this game???? Now here's the most frustrating part:

I decided to start the 24/7. I think the idea of it is great, but it's incredibly difficult and completely stupid in training. I was trying to do the layups, midrange shots, and 'a free clear path shot' and failed them all. I don't know why. I got two shots in a row in the mid range area 5 times, yet I still failed. Do I have to win the one-on-one? It never says to. In the ISOmotion/clear path challenge, I was shut out 21-0. COMPLETELY ANNOYING.

I know, it's just a freakin' game, but it pissed me off so much that I yelled a little too loud for 3 in the morning.

Tips on the above will be NEEDED. :(

    POSITIVE::D

Well, the graphics are TITE! The game is pretty realistic (At least to some degree). The faces and jerseys look incredibly real. Other pluses were pretty much the same as you guys said. I'm SO glad they included 21. That's gotta be my favorite part.

    THOUGHTS & SUGGESTIONS

I do wish they would have had more intermission stuff, like showing a fake skyline of a city or 'interviews.' I think maybe a real ESPN bottom line would have been neat. What would be cool is if there's a SportsCenter recap. Is there one? I also thought there were tooooooo many dunks. I don't think Pike can dunk that well (we'll see), but man, JJ can light the floor up.

Anyway, overall I would give it a 7.5-8, mainly because the defense sucks in this game, but more shots go in.

I don't really think the defense sucks, though it is a bit charge happy. I'm assuming you are talking offense when you said ISOMotion being random. I have no problems being able to use it to my advantage, but it does take practice. I haven't been called for a charge in a while. Besides the charge/block fouls slider in the rules section, which I assume you knew about, I guess you could change defensive sag so you could change where the D is to create more space. Besides that, the D is good, I think.

The plays got me angre too, especially since you can't tell what "Post Up 38" is.

You have to win the 24/7 game, or you don't get any points, IIRC. So you could block 50000 shots in a row, but lose and not get anything. It is sort of hard at the beginnning, but it gets a little easier once you know some moves that trick the D.

On the ISOmotion challenges, I sometimes didn't even use it to get points. Sometimes, I'd do a pump fake, get the guy in the air, and drive to the basket for a uncontested shot. I never liked that game though. I prefered the defensive isomotion game. MUCH EASIER, imo.

    Ahh k, THANKS!!

I was kinda pissed last night. I guess winning would make more sense.

Maybe I'll play you or others once I get the online thing set up (prolly in a few weeks; gotta deal with college apps, and collect parts to fix up a '67 'stang).

I don't/can't play online. I don't have a the thingie to do it, but even if I did, I would only play on dialup and I don't really think that would be a good idea. One second I'd have the ball, the next, the game is over. ;)

Hehe....if you are anything like my friend, I'd whoop you. I played him in 5 minute qtrs, played my scrubs after the 1st, and won by like 40. Braggs, who I rated a 65 overall, had like 20/12 while Duncan(he had the Spurs) had only 4 pts. Wasn't even fun. :D

Then again, he would double me with Duncan, while my PF would be wide open under the bucket, so I had an easy night.

There was some thread about ESPN online that is probably a couple pages back. May want to check it out, or maybe the guys in there will pop up here.
