FYI, I just picked it up during lunch. There is a huge stack of 'em at the Toys R Us near Greenspoint. I know what I'm doing tonight...
This game is totally different than last years version. Im not 100% happy with hit, but its better than Live04. They could have done alot better. Whats up with no player introductions??? Is there something I have to do, or is there just no player intro at home games? This sucks.
Yes, it's true. When I first played it and saw that shot of Ming falling down, I wondered the same thing.
Hakeem has to be in one of the teams you have to unlock. He's been in all the previous 2K legends 80's and 90's teams.
Is this true?!? That was one of my favorite parts of last years game. Man, I hope I don't regret getting this game. 50 bucks is a lot of money.
I don't have the game, but I imagine you could unlock Hakeem through the 24/7 mode or something else. I've read a lot of guys complaining about no Jordan, but I think he's a locked played. The only "big" complaints I've heard are the camera and the defensive stance thing. I guess we'll have to get used to both. I read somewhere that the analog stick, I think, is used to defend the player once they cross midcourt, but I couldn't really understand it that well without playing it. I guess it could be realistic since you would have to predict which way the player goes so that you can prevent them from going there, rather than just using one button to do the defense. I have no idea about the intros. I've heard very little about them. I'm not too worried about them though. I would only watch them like the first 10 times or so and then skip them the rest of the time.
well after reading some stuff here i might have to go back to renting espn and live before buying one. i really liked that defensive stance button, hmm, hopefully it still plays well. i'm gonna wait for that toys r us deal buy 2 get 1 free deal and get espn or live, ssx 3 and get simpson's hit and run for free. either that or true crime if its out.
Passed by Gamestop today, saw someone play the PS2 version and there is indeed NO player intros. Instead, they just show them stretching, jumping, and shaking hands with the opposing team. Damn that sucks, first Ch. 51 isnt showing the introductions and now this.
I haven't played too much yet, but so far so good. Some points... ....no player introductions. Can't find Hakeem. He may be an unlockable somehow, but I'm not sure. Camera I had no problem with. Better graphics and animation overall. And yes, they show Yao getting crossed. But they end with a nasty dunk from him, so that's good I guess. Still a little mad about no Dream, though...(He wasn't in NBA Street 2 either)
Anyone interested in making a ClutchCity league? The online leagues sound like they could be a lot of fun. If not, anyone interested in just playing a few games for fun online? B
IM still waiting on the game(xbox version) to come to Gamestop (pre-order) Can you guys that have the game list the Rockets ratings? Yao, I'm imagining is around 83-85 and Steve is 88-90 Also, if anyone is interested in starting a league on xboxlive then reply
I would, but I'm at work. Yao is pretty low. I think his block shot number is something like 50. I had to go in and edit him. Mobley is rated higher than Yao. Question(s): Can you edit player numbers? I signed Jim Jackson and he's wearing Drexlers #22. Also, is there a site that has good create-a-player attributes out there? Not downloads.
Thats a good questions. Cause im trying to change Yao Mings Jersey name. I hate it that it says MING rather than YAO. This games has alot of hi's but also alot of Lo's. I hope they improve all this **** next year or else ill be going back to NBALIVE. BTW, i was the rockets game on wednesday. The rockets intro sucks bad. Maybe they should bring back the sorry ass drummers they had before.
FINALLY got this game tonight. Only got to play a couple hours of it though since the Rockets played. Um...it is different...though not in a bad way. It will take some getting use to, but I think the guys who play the others will be able to adapt somewhat quickly. I'm having to work with the sliders, though. I was playing on All-star, I believe, and I most of the sliders the way it came and it was like 60-50 in one game before halftime. Blocks, to me, need to be toned down a bit so I did use those in the sliders. The animations, especially the ones with a player going to the basket are really nice. The collisions and body reactions were done very nicely. A player will actually trip and fall after a dunk/layup if they land on another player's foot. Free throws are harder to make, but I don't think they're too hard. Probably a little more realistic, but I believe there is still the AUTO FT thing. The post moves seem to be a little easier, but I don't think they're unstoppable, though I do need to tweak a couple of sliders to get it perfect. IIRC, when a player is around the hoop, he will automatically dunk it. The lead passes are REALLY nice. I LOVE leading a player when he is cutting to the basket or running during a fast break. Haven't had an alley-oop yet, though I haven't really tried. The "give and go" feature, though kind of copied, is also a nice feature. I'm still working on the Isomotion. It isn't quite as I expected, but it is ok. I think when I get the hang of it, it will be nice. I was use to the defensive stance button, but I think I'm getting used to being without it and I also am adapting to taking charges or stepping in front of the D with the L1 button. (on the PS2 anyways). The ESPN overlays, or at least the ones I've seen, are ok. I thought they would maybe be a little better. The commentary is kind of annoying. It is weird because it seems like they recycled some lines from past years, except just changing the people saying them. It felt real weird to hear Tom Toldbert say, "If your going to foul someone..." and I knew what he was going to say next. The ratings seem kind of lazy. Like I mentioned before, several players have the exact rating as last year. I may have to do some tweaking there as well. I checked out a little of both Franchise and 24/7. The franchise looks a little like last years but with the ability to hire the a. coaches, scouts, and trainers. The 24/7 mode seems very addictive, though it is kind of tough just starting out. Kind of funny since I made a 6'10 SF, but I keep playing 6' PGs. I stuff the bajeezus(sp?) out of them! The only real problem I have, like others, is the camera. It definitly will take some getting use to and I wish they had done better. Doesn't seem like there isn't really any camera good enough to play in. Overall, I think it is an improvement over 2k3, but it definitly takes some getting used to. (haven't played Live, so can't compare.) I'm pretty sure I'll be playing it for a while, so that's all that really matters. As for the Hakeem thing, I have no idea how, if it is even possible, to get him. I would have figured he would be unlockable, but they list those or at least some of them and he is not there. Neither is Jordan, who I heard now is not in the game, not just an unlockable, not that I care about that tool anyways. Did I just say "tool?"
About roster updates: How do you do this? Do you have to have 'xbox live'? I don't see any download options on the offical website.
