What many people don't think of when they compare these ads to soccer, is that soccer doesn't have commercials. Soccer actually needs these sponsorships to make money because they want to broadcast games without ads for 45 minute stretches. You can't say "soccer does it, so basketball can too," because those are different situations.

Also, it will start out as 1 2x2 patch in the corner, but in a few years it will become a 4x4 patch, and then there will be 2 4x4 patches, and it won't stop there.

That's not true. Soccer/NBA broadcast rights are sold to networks. Those leagues profit fom these sales. All revenue made from commercials during game telecasts are profited by the networks.

Who says you can't like two leagues at once?

The NHL and NFL keep me sane during NBA low points.

Money hungry league. Man the NBA sucks.

Less commercial breaks made possible with the new revenue from the spam covered jerseys would be nice.

"Spam covered"...again, it will be a 2-inch by 2-inch ad on one shoulder! All those Nascar posts and reactions here are idiotic.

It's one tiny ad that generates a ****load of money and doesn't harm you or make the jerseys look worse.

Because we're being verrrry serious! I stick to my prediction of long sleeve tops and bottoms -- basically, NBA players will wear sans-a-belt jumpsuits, covered with ads. Damn that Stern!

There's only one man capable of single-handedly jumping on and dominating the local advertising opportunities in Houston.

2x2-inch size be damned. He'll go after this opportunity full throttle. :p
