All i want to know is 2 things. Is the computer defense better and is it still easy to knock down 25 3's a game? Those are the 2 things that annoyed me the most last year because I could score from anywhere at will easily shaking off defenders even on the highest level.
I have them both, got the Yesterday (Tuesday), NBA Live, which I never thought I would say, is absolutely incredible. Popped it in, this is what I saw -The All-Star Weekend Package is great, the dunk contest and three point shootout is amazing. -Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith are great for the commentary portion. - Graphics are way above what they usually are - The Menu Music is great - The Franchise Mode is amazing I was looking forward to NBA 2K5 more than any other game this year, and popped it in, and this is what I saw. - Low Production Values - Complex Menu Systems - Beautiful Graphics - Boring Commentary and Menu Music - Complex Franchise mode, with that damn "pleasing players" attribute - Very dissapointed On the whole, LIVE runs circles around 2k5, which really upsets me, cause last years 2k4 was amazing.
That's funny you say you liked 2K4 so much. From what I have read around the net, MANY people hated last year's and feel this year's is MUCH MUCH better. You are kind of the opposite from the majority that I have read about. I called EB, where I have it preordrered, and they keep telling me that it will be in today. When is anyone's guess.
I was going to get ESPN but for the first time since its birth it has gotten beat out in ratings by NBA Live. And not by just a couple of points either. So for the first time in 5 years, I am going to buy NBA Live. I would have never imagined. But that slam dunk contest and the ratings pushed me over to Live.
If you are basing your opinion on a game by some randon reviews put out by, so-called, experts, you seem a little close-minded. IGN gave the game a bad review, but read the forums at operationsports.com or even espnvideogames.com and you can really get a feel of how regular people view a game. All I have seen, so far, is how everyone loves ESPN this year and are dissapointed with Live. IGN gave ESPN last year a 9.5 so I thought "Damn, must be THAT good." and I ran out and bought it, and hated it. I sold it three days later. At the same time, IGN gave Inside Drive a 7.7 and I have loved that series. Do you vow not to see a certain movie just because a "critic" bashes it? I sure hope not.
Just got ESPN 2k5 going to buy live later to try that out but so far i have liked some of the stuff the game play with some of the new features are pretty nice like the hop step and if your fast enough you can pull of some nice moves. The graphics are nice but i haven't gotten past anything else yet cause i have only played one game and i have to go to work but i will definently check it out more in depth tonight. Then i will go buy live and see how that is.
Man I was pissed because I went to Gamestop early this morning to get ESPN for PS2 and apparently only the X-BOX versions arrived this morning. The guy behind the counter said the PS2 ones were coming in tomorrow.
I just got it and played one game so far (XBOX). I was the Rockets vs. the Heat and I lost 44-38. Shaq dominated me down low the second half and finished with 10 pts., 13 rbs.. Wade and Jones both scored in double-digits with Wade crossing up Sura a few times and getting in for some layups and dunks. Yao had 16 pts., 12 rbs., and TMac had 13 pts. Overall a pretty good game where I was down by 12 in the fouth and made a rally to cut it to a two point deficit. The new camera angle is nice, especially when the crowd would get hyped during my run. The fans right on the court would stand up and cheer, it really made it seem like a home court instead of just a court with the correct logos and colors like many other games before it. When the Heat made their one or two runs, the crowd would just sit there very quietly. I really liked the atmosphere. I HATED last year's game and I knew after one game I was going to sell it. This year's is MUCH BETTER. I have read a few places that it has an "Inside Drive" feel to it, and I have to agree. I have always loved "Inside Drive" and this feels very sim-like. It is going to take some time getting used to the movement, etc, but I am very pleased so far after one game. If anyone has questions, I will gladly try to answer them.
Just finished my stupid genetics test, now I'm heading up to Walmart to buy this awesome awesome game. I don't suppose they'll have Deke on there yet. Ahhh I see I'll have to play a little Carol Dawson before I destroy the league with our ultimate 2 headed attack.
Yeah it had all the rosters up to date except for Ryan Bown everyone else is on there and you can always download the new roster updates.
