Why the hell has no one mentioned Labron James yet? He should be at the top of that list cause he hasnt played one single game yet and he is already considered by some to be the greatest player ever ib the nba

Hey, give Ahmad Rashad a rest. As I recall, Rashad was able to bag Claire Huxtable from the Cosby Show.

I would like to know how you define overrated. Is it that people think MJ is better than he actually is? No doubt Jordan is top 5 best ballers ever, so is MJ overrated b/c so many people think he is the best.

To overrate is to give somebody more credit than he/she deserves. MJ's overrated. Big time. It's ridiculous how many people give him the #1 all-time status. Just because he was a pop culture icon and was hyped so much doesn't make him the greatest player ever. This is evident when sports writers label our two championships with the famous asterick just because he retired. I personally have MJ 5th all time, behind Wilt, Oscar, Magic, and Bird.

Just because he is overrated doesnt mean he isnt a stud on the court. Roddick has been the most hyped tennis player over the last 2 years. Its really out of control.

Why, ESPN has forgotten about everything that happened after 1995. Even before 1995, he was the most inconsistent player EVER. They talk about consistently playing--but it wasn't at the same level, check out his career numbers 1987-93. He was obviously hurting and his numbers suffered terribly.

I personally have him ahead of Wilt, Oscar, Magic, and Bird.

And it's not because of the hype machine....he is (in my splendid opinion) simply the greatest basketball player of all time.

Bo Jackson was overrated. Um, no. Bo Jackson was among the greatest athletes I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Of course, he didn't have a long career in any sport...but his numbers in football were absolutely sick. Very rare combination of big time power and breakaway speed...i mean breakaway from little defensive backs type of speed. That guy was on another level entirely.

Totally agree with Derek Jeter. If that guy played in Houston no one would even dare mention his name with A-Rod or Nomar. But he plays for the Yanks, sooooo....

Sandy Koufax?? Are you kidding?? Sandy Koufax is overrated?? What in the world are they smoking?

I'd have to dissagree with Nolan Ryan even being mentioned on that list. Simply put, he is one of the greatest.

Now I'll agree MJ is overrated, I've thought that for a long time. Not b/c he is not great (even though I don't think he is the single greatest of all time, I understand the arguments for him), but b/c he has been put above the sport that he played. I don't think he was the one that saved the sport (he carried it for a while) the Magic and Bird rivaly is what made the sport so popular.

    Two BIG problems:

    1) Deion Sanders. You have got to be kidding. He got alot of pub in his day but when teams will totally ingore one side of the field because of one person.......well that's saying something.

    2) He only on the "Honorable Mention" but Oscar de la Hoya. This guy is nails. I think alot of people are just jealous of the guy. He's a helluva fighter and I don't think he gets enough credit just because he's popular with the ladies. Take out that one stupid fight with Trindad where he tried to coast (I still think he won the fight) and dude has pretty much did all anyone can ask.

    I like de la Hoya,

but, he deserved to lose that against Trinidad for coasting, it was just weak. He didn't deserve to beat Pernell Whitaker, he lost that fight, he barely beat Ike Quartey, which was another questionable decision, and his biggest victory was against an overrated out of his league Vargas. He was exposed by Sugar Shane.

Why isn't Dale Earnhardt Jr. on that list instead of Tony Stewart?!
