I don't know anything about divorce laws or divorce settlements, but is there any bearing of who initiates the divorce in terms of a judge deciding how much someone is owed?

What if MJ just decided not to see Juanita anymore? Like if they were separated, and MJ decides to not sign the divorce papers.

Is it possible for MJ to keep most of his money in that case?

Can someone fill me in on what would happen in a case like that?

I remember when my sister when through her divorce her ex-husband didn't want to sign the papers. He had a certain amount of time to do so or the divorce was valid without his signing anything. May be different state to state though.

Isn't one of his kids a hoops star in high school in the Chicago area?

Most NBA marriages are a sham anyway. I have a great story I wish I could tell about a former Houston Rocket who is married and some moves he tried on a female friend of mine. Luckily, unlike most women these players go after, she had morals and standards.

Even though I know you are posting this because you want a response, i'll have to say you may be the only person ever created to call jordan a quitter.

It kinda makes me giggle a little.

Pre-nup only protects assets acquired before marriage(Thus, pre-nup), which means she is getting paid either way.

I'll sound like an ******* for saying it, but I hate that she is now entitled to half of MJ's fortune and assets. Is $200 mill necessary for her to maintain her lifestyle?

Lifestyle doesn't matter unless its a state that awards alimony. Most states are community property states, which in that case she gets half unless they settle otherwise.

A prenup won't help unless he had a postnup too. Yeah, you can contract away your post-marriage rights too. Jordan is a smart man, but I'd be surprised if he got his wife to sign a prenup or postnup.

You can sign a pre and post nup prior to marriage? First time I've heard of this. This would be wonderful for me if this is true

Well, technically, it'd still be a prenup, but you can write one that applies to future assets. I don't know much more than that, so ask a family law attorney before you say "I do"!

A true postnup has to take place after marriage, but you can modify a prenup with a postnup, or get a postnup without a prenup.

Years ago I caught a cab to IAH. I was chatting up with the driver. He was telling me stories but his favorite was about the time he helped to get Jordan a high-class hooker. It was believable.

What's wrong with you? Being happy about another person's failed marriage is pretty low, my friend.

In addition, it is a little unfair to call Jordan a "quitter." The first time he retired, his father had just been murdered, and it was clear he needed a break.

Also, pursuing of personal goals after reaching the apex of one's chosen profession is not "quitting." (Jordan) Quitting could however be defined as backstabbing and whining yourself out of a situation after a failed venture. (Pippen)

Jordan gave the Bulls franchise everything. If he wanted to leave on his own terms, i think he earned that right. I do not see what Jordan ever did to earn your wishes of a failed personal life.
