Whoa... pretty serious tone, bro. I hear you but he wasn't super fat, just fat for an athlete. You're right though, you shouldn't make fun of people for a lot of things but poking a little fun at a rich, washed up athlete doesn't strike me as that big a deal.

Edit: I just saw your previous post where you said you regretted it. I wouldn't worry about it. Even the president makes bad jokes every once in a while, right? No need to feel sorry for a comment like that to Kemp. You know as well as I do that athletes brush stuff like that off pretty easily. Some even eat twinkies if you throw some at them. :D

To me, what happened with Pippen post Jordan shows really how GREAT Michael Jordan was. How could many people be so fooled by Pippen?
We thought we had a leader and versatile player, we did have either.

Pippen was the biggest con in Rockets history, that signing then the trade to Portland sent the Rockets to the bottom.

Why I always defend Barkley is that he STILL WANTED TO PLAY for the Rockets knowing what Pippen did sent the Rockets to rebuilding mode.

He should have jetted when Steve/Cuttino took over.

I'd pull the trigger for Monta and Biedrens.

I just don't know how you could like how Magette plays. Most of the time I see him play he just barrels to the basket and throw something up searching for the foul and maybe an 'and1'.

If we're going to give up Mcgrady I'd like somebody with both the dimensions of, perimeter shooting and penetrating.

Mcgrady's 3 point numbers haven't been the cream of the crop but this season he did improved in that section during the time period that he was playing.

    Well played, DaDa! :D

I can think of about 22 million reasons in 2010 alone why Mac won't care though.

That would be the dream scenario, a Kevin Martin or Monta Ellis or Danny Granger, or even an older Vince Carter.

    Let bygones be bygones

he is putting forth this effort to enhance his comeback and get a comeback contract with his next team --shorter duration for less money

It's kinda sad what happened to Kemp. If the Rockets knew that we didn't have to do anything, Kemp would have eaten himself out of contention. The Barkley trade would have never happened.

We would have handed the reigns to Cassell and still have Horry during his better years.

Shawn Kemp use to be Amare / Lebron. it's kinda sad to see him like that.

This reminds of Mike Tyson, Tyson during his prime was a monster. I know people think Pacquio is the best pound for pound, but Tyson was a machine.

Maggette has a very strong mid-range game and he rebounds extremely well. As far as barreling to the basket and getting to the line, that is exactly what we were missing out of McGrady. Most of the elite perimeter scorers do that. Maggette isn't elite, overall, but he is in that respect. All I'm getting at is if you are going to criticize Maggette's game, his ability to get to the line should be the last thing you criticize. That is one of his best attributes.

    I agree.

Once Michael was out of the system it was very noticeable that Pippen could not flourish, as he did in Chicago, without MJ. Yet people were surprised?

Pippen never had his heart in Houston. Simple as that.

Fill me in on exactly what happened. I shamelessly admit that I didn't follow the Rockets before moving to Houston in 2002 and was only passively watching the NBA for several years around that time in favor of college ball.

I can't feel sorry for Tmac especially after this season. He's not like Barkley playing for scrub's pay and ending his career cause he went for a rebound or Larry Bird playing til he can't walk or Magic leaving because of HIV.

Who says McGrady will even try to play after his contract expires? Dude is already set and has already admitted to losing interest in the game several times during his career. I'm not saying he won't keep playing after next season but I wouldn't consider at a lock. Aside from the mental side, his body is falling apart. He has a chronic back condition on top of everything else. He may just decide to live the good life with his family and hang up his sneakers.

The Rockets got swept by the Sonics in 96 in the 2nd round because the Sonics got hot and mainly because Horry couldn't check Shawn Kemp.

During the Otis Thrope days, the Rockets played better D on Kemp and Karl Malone, but Horry at the 4 didn't work too well against the Sonics at least because Kemp was just more athletic and versatile.

The Rockets then pulled a major trade to get Barkley by trading Cassell/Horry to Phoenix.

Chuck was a much better rebounder and post player than Horry. So we got our wish and beat the Sonics.

However, getting rid of Cassell, to this day, has caused fans to demand a new PG every year. Even with Steve cause he wasn't a real PG.

Without Cassell, Matt Maloney got destroyed by John Stockton.
if Maloney couldn't hit an open jumper, he was worthless.

We traded for Barkley to address the matchup problems we had with Seattle and Shawn Kemp. We gave up Cassell and Horry to get Barkley. It was a very short sighted trade considering how good Cassell and Horry ended up being.

Oh don't get me wrong. I love getting to the line. It's almost a guaranteed successful possession, successful as in getting points out of it.

Problem is, will we get those calls when we're going against a Laker team? The way the NBA is right now, I would doubt that.

I've seen guys try to drive to the basket 3-4 times consecutively and either throw the ball away or cause offensive fouls.

All I want is something with equal of better value than what we're giving away. I'm just more comfortable with Monta or Captain Jack inserted there instead of Corey.

We really didn't have to do anything in hindsight cause Shawn Kemp ate himself out of being an elite player.

However, I'm pretty proud of Charles for playing hard, taking the MINIMUM so we can sign Pippen, and sticking around when we were clearly rebuilding.

Man if we got Danny Granger that would be amazing. Or Kevin Martin.

I really feel Caron Butler would be blossom in this offensive as well...

I wasn't fully aware of all the reasoning behind the Barkley deal. I get it now.

So tinman was basically saying the Rockets could have stayed pat and watched Kemp eat himself out of the league as he ended up doing. Got it.

Tyson was missing some screws in his head but before he lost to Evander, or maybe even before he lost LL he was the best fighter. He had that killer instinct every time he would step in that ring he would literally want to knock the dudes head off.
