DD and Lou, let's calm down. we'll know the fate of tracy soon enough. i'm sure he's working as hard like kobe bryant right now on steroids, trying to get back. there's no doubt in my mind he'll come back and play at an all-star level after knowing how hard he's working. whether or not he stays with us or goes to another remains to be unknown. i don't think anyone really knows what's going to happen with tracy really. i think deep down, morey and les still want him if he's gonna come back relatively healthy b/c they know what he can do. but also deep down, they know they can't risk their season over and over with 2 injury-proned stars so tracy is the easier one to let go. it's a tougher decision that you think DD for the organization.
I think Les is a business man and could see all the fans booing him when his highlights came on the big screen. I think Morey is a business man and knows that Tmac will not be worth anywhere near $23 million to the team this year and the best asset management is to flip his contract to a team trying to save some money in the future and rebuild, by getting someone like Vince Carter etc. There is not a doubt in my mind that Tmac's main value at this point is his contract and the Rockets would like to cut ties with the $23 million dollar anchor. DD
You attack him at every turn. All of a sudden, if you want to see if the guy can recover and make a contribution before Feb 22nd, one is labeled some sort of T-mac only fan. I don't have expectations, I hope. I hope the guy can make a comeback and that his past experiences have made him tougher. That the bitterness of failure, and of fans such as yourself, gives him the kick in the rear that yes, he needs a bit. I think he's doing that. So I am rooting for him. I think he is willing to sacrafice. JVG is a t-mac fan for a reason. I hope t-mac comes back, and is happy to be back with the team. I think he truly wants to be with this team, and win a ring here, and I hope he gets the chance to show that he belongs. I think it will not be easy and he will never win back all the fans - definitely not you nor tinman. But if he does enough, he can help make us a contender. If anything, that increases his trade value. If he doesn't, he becomes a salary dump at the deadline and morey might pick up some help for a playoff run. But one thing is for sure, I expect we will get better offers on t-mac later versus now. It pays to be patient.
I want him to get healthy, I just don't think the odds are in his favor, and after watching his teamates body language towards him I don't think they like him much either. To me, he is done.....if the Rockets decide to ride the TMac train one more time, I will cheer for him, I don't boo Rocket's ever.... Nah, that just depends.......I think the Rockets have to be ready to pull the trigger at any point. And I believe there will be a lot of teams trying to jettison players NOW to avoid the luxury tax. Indiana is not even sure it can continue as a franchise....so there will be opportunities to be "predatory" whether it is in season or before. To me that would be shocking..... DD
I never boo Rockets. However, I did purchase court side seats when Pippen returned as a Blazer so I could yell at him. That was worth it!
Either way, they're going to have to spend $23 Million. Obivously whoever we would trade him for is going to have a contract(s) that add up close to $23 million, maybe more. More than likely, they won't be coming off the books like T-Macs would be. They'll only make the trade if the $23 Million coming in, will help them more than T-Macs expriing $23 Mil. I don't see Morey taking on a bad contract just for the sake of dumping T-Mac's contract. Hes too smart.
That's it, you have already written him off. But why do that? What's the point? Anyway, a team that gets t-mac now...it's not going to help their lux tax - it's going to hit it just as hard because they will take on the full 23 million. They only get a break if they wait half a season and then get him since they only have to take on a fraction of the salary. That's why his value goes up with time.
You are obsessed dude. you are REALLY NOT going to change 1 single person's mind on tmac, especially someone like DD who's been following the team so closely every game. You might change a casual fan's mind on him cause they don't follow the Rockets so closely. Your mission to change people's opinion on Tmac is like trying to make the Taliban watch the Oxygen Network.
I booed his overrated punk self and I also yelled cheeseburger every time Shawn Kemp got the ball. In retrospect, that was mean what I said to Kemp, but I should have yelled some serious obscenities at Pippen.. however, I liked my seats too much.
Where do you come up with this stuff, dude? Agree or disagree with tinman, can anybody deny that he is one of the funniest people around here?
No joke, tinman... the first Rockets game I went to after moving to Houston in 2002 was believe it or not, against McGrady's Magic. Shawn Kemp was washed up, severely overweight and riding the pine. My cousin had seats about 10 rows back of the Magic bench and when the crowd went quiet momentarily, I screamed out "Somebody give Kemp a big bag of Cheetos! He ain't gonna play!" Kemp turned his head to his right and over his shoulder, making eye to eye contact with me. He had a dead serious, stone cold look on his face. Meanwhile, about 50 people in our section were laughing their asses off. No big deal but I enjoyed it thoroughly.
I do when I am wrong. No, teams will be trading players that have multiple years left that they can save millions on by just taking on one year of Tmac's salary. Like Baron Davis, or Corey Maggette, or Vince Carter, or Monta Ellis....guys that their organizations have OVER committed too, and they want an exit strategy to start over with. And maybe they include a poison pill contract as well....like Maggette and Biedrens which gets about $100 million off their books for $23 million. That is the types of deals Morey will be looking at.... DD
I've seen some of his threads. Did you check out my Kemp story a couple posts up? No big deal but a true story. I hadn't even thought of it in a couple of years until you brought up the cheeseburger thing.
yeah. that was funny back in the day and as a fan, but overall not in good taste to make fun of fat people.
I bet it was. Lucky.. The only kobe commercial I have ever liked is the recent one where he crosses over Pippen when he was with the blazers and lobs it to Shaq. Makes him look like a fool.
