We'd be in the exact same position if he came here. He's like McGrady but even less efficient and not nearly as talented; but, it would be fun to see him in the same team with Artest, though.
Yao's trainer, anthony falsone, is pretty good himself. He's done a great job with yao and bad personal training isn't an issue. Now tmac, he wasn't consistent with his training AND had a bad trainer, which is just asking for trouble... As for grover, no way does he go work for a team. He makes much more doing this on his own, plus he owns a big gym in chicago. And let's not confuse an athletic trainer with a personal trainer or strength coach..i'm not sure if that's what you did or not, but i'v seen other posters do it. An athletic trainer is someone like keith jones, doesn't really deal with training or workouts, just injuries, treatment, prevention, etc...
thanks for doing that. i started and got tired of typing. i'll add that the rockets strength and conditioning staff is pretty decent. tracy has problems because he's always worked with his own guy, an independent trainer that he's had since orlando. anthony falsone is awesome, and is/was Olajuwon's trainer as well.
yeah you're right. i just meant he's had him since before he got here. houston fans like to dump on the our strength and medical staff, so i wanted to be clear that this guy is not employed by the rockets or in any way affiliated.
Maybe one day, Tracy will prove everyone wrong, about everything they have been saying about him for years.
the only year you can say tracy didn't come into good enough of shape was last yr (b/c of all those surgeries). he always came into great playing shape years before. and there is huge motivation to do the same next year (HUGE).
he will never get another big contract due to his injury history. but he wants ANOTHER contract and that's not a given with his history. so he needs to prove he can play again, and preferably at a high level.
Shaq was still making $20M/year. Okur never made max money and his salary has never gone down. Tim Duncan may not have taken as much as he could have, but his salary has gone up every year he's been in the league. He didn't actually take a cut. Same goes for Arenas. Jordan didn't really take a pay cut either until he came back with the Wizards and that's because he was already involved with the team. Besides, he wasn't losing money because most of his income came from endorsements. Barkley did take a $2M paycut but he was compensated in his last year when he made twice what his previous largest contract was. The only one mentioned so far who went from making close to $20M to pretty much the minimum, was Karl Malone. Payton's salary went from $13M to $5M when he joined the Lakers so he's kind of in there but he wasn't making $19M like Malone was. So that's one, maybe 2 players who have taken a SIGNIFICANT pay cut in an effort to win a championship. And that was 6 years ago. It's not a common occurrence. Yes, it could happen. But it's a little far fetched to expect anyone to willingly take a $10-15 Million pay cut. I certainly wouldn't expect Tracy to take a significant pay cut if he can help it. I also don't expect any marquis free agent to sign with us for the MLE in hopes of winning a ring like many of these trade treads try to suggest.
tedy bruschi with the patriots, jason taylor with the dolphins, marbury with the celtics, cassell with the celtics . . . iirc they all took less than they could have to play with a team they preferred/a team with championship aspirations.
really? I never knew when he picked him up, but i always had a feeling they were like old friends or something...like he was someone tmac gave a chance because he knew him personally....that guy shouldn't be training pro athletes..
Dude, mike's contract was bought out by the mavs. He was still making like 15mil the following years.
That's why he's working hard imo so he can demonstrate to ________ ________ (fill in city/team name) that you can plug him in as the final piece of talent needed for a title.......
I do not thinke the rockets are stupid enough or will come across a great deal to trade McGrady so he will stay and the contract will expire but there is no chance that they re-sign him in my opinion.
