uhh, the playoffs are always on national TV. so yes, i expect the national media to watch those games very closely. the two teams we played during the tracy era was dallas and utah, so we had favorable TV schedules. and all those games went 6-7 games and thus we were one of the few teams left playing when it reached 6 games. so yes, our games were magnified
Bob Costas and Sports Illustrated totally and wholeheartedly agree with you. But anyway, Barkley and Magic did criticize McGrady last year. Barkley has backed down considerably, but Kenny Smith made some remarks this year as well. And let's not forget Fran Blinebury. I'm sure there are others. I'm too lazy to run a search for McGrady-bashing pieces, but sorry, it's not just AntiSonic picking on him.
umm... antisonic, if you didn't notice, tracy SUCKED this year. so a lot of dudes have been making remarks this year. i'm talking about his failures (and i'm sure you meant the playoff failures). barkley and magic never called tracy out. NEVER. they never said, "where the hell is tracy?" or something to that nature. hell, barkley even said he FELT SORRY for mcgrady last yr during the playoffs. blinebury wanted to trade mcgrady after the 04-05 season. so he was never a fan of mcgrady. i'm referring to what we're discussing: THE PLAYOFFS. that's what we wanted him for. and you're saying he has not done his part in the playoffs in terms of PERFORMANCE b/c you have been basically saying he's been TERRIBLE in the playoffs. and from ESPN to TNT to the national guys, i have never seen one person who has called tracy out regarding his playoff performances.
antisonic, if you can simply just say, "tracy should and could have done more in those series..." i agree with you. with the best players, we hold them to a higher standards and he could have done a million things better. but please, don't say he didn't do jack or played garbage or was a "negative" to the team. he's not luther head.
Maybe if they'd take Kobe and LeBron's members out of their mouths for a second, they'd get around to it. Absence of national guys calling out McGrady is not proof of McGrady not needing to be called out.
you seriously think the national media is in love with tracy mcgrady or something? they actually watch the game without any bias and they watch the guy literally do everything (like that stat i pulled, he was responsible for FREAKIN' 80% OF OUR OFFENSIVE PRODUCTION IN THAT GAME 7). as former players themselves or people who have covered the game for a long time with zero investment in the rockets as fans or players, they're as unbiased as you can get.
I never said they were in love with Tracy. If anything, I think are apathetic towards him now since he's been a non-factor for so long. Not sure I'll follow you on them being unbiased, but that's a whole other argument. For someone who agrees with me that McGrady should have done more, you sure are enthusiastic about that 80% stat.
obviously when you lose, the best player can always do more. but he has still been our best playoff performer in all those 3 series BY FAR. no other rocket came close. so that's why you don't see barkley, who's been known to say whatever is on his mind, say jack about tracy.
Just last year he said the Rockets should move him. How quickly we forget the countless threads talking about what a hater Charles is. Guess those were all started by Yao fans...
he said that last year during the period when tracy was "injured." just like THIS YEAR, except he never came back from his injury. how quickly you forget
The only other Rocket who played in all 3 of those series is Deke. Is this what you've been reduced to? Trying to prop up McGrady by comparing him to Deke?
how did you get that from my post. i said from all those 3 playoff series, tracy was our best playoff performer by far. so there's no need to prop up mcgrady. and i don't think you get an argument from that statement. so you can start getting technical like you always do i guess
Charles also said this year that people who think Rockets are better without Tracy is "stupid." Not calling you stupid, but I'm just saying what he said.
"All those 3 playoff series" doesn't mean the same thing as "each of those 3 playoff series." Secondly, you're wrong. Again. In 06-07, it's pretty foolish to say that McGrady was better than Yao by far. No big deal though. Its common to see you use hyperboles and try to pass them off as fact. What's funny is that you've started making up statistics. For instance, let's look at your equation showing that McGrady was responsible for 80% of the Rockets field goals in the game 7 loss against Utah. Here's a hypothetical situation. Let's assume the Rockets score 20 pts on 10 fgm. Both Yao and McGrady each score 5 baskets and each have 5 assists. So McGrady's stat line would have 5 fgm and 5 assists (same as Yao's). Now, using your "equation", both Yao and McGrady would each be responsible for 100% of the field goals made. Hmm....
Its all about creating storylines in sports. Characterizations. Its why we watch. Its why pro wrestling can exist, discussing if Triple H or Undertaker is the worse guy. I dont get sometimes the selectiveness why 1 flawed player is salvagable but another player with equal flaws or lesser is eternally damned lol. 2 players can both walk out the same crackhouse at the same time with crackpipes on their lips. But then 1 player might be better liked than the other for various reasons outside of that. Just how it goes. I dont see the benefit in supressing fans' support for your team, or any players on it either. But whatever...
Your dumb, so McGrady has been more detrimental to this team than Pippen because he's played here longer? That's r****ded, McGrady LED THIS TEAM to the playoffs three of the past five years, Pippen didn't come close to doing anything positive for the Rockets. He wasn't an all-star, he wasn't an All-NBA player, and he certainly wasn't anywhere near an MVP candidate. McGrady sucks, he's overrated, he's a piece of crap that doesn't deserve to live. He quit on the season, he quit on the organization. Have we even seen any pictures of him with crutches? Maybe he's faking the whole thing, that's why he's so confident coming back by pre-season. But even if he comes back, he sucks, he's a piece of ****, and of course, we all wish him the worst luck possible. Even if ALL THAT BS is true, it's undeniable McGrady has led this team to the playoffs more than once, and because of one absolutely terrible season everyone forgets this. I at least respect Anti Sonic, he seems like one that has hated on McGrady ever since he's come to Houston, so at least he's consistent (though I'm basing this off his arrogance, so correct me if I'm wrong). But even the biggest of haters can concede McGrady has certainly not been a deflection in his tenure, and the only arguable year is this one. The Pippen situation isn't close with what we're experiencing with McGrady right now, I question your knowledge if you truly believe that..
Throughout his career, he has been exposed as a soft, quitter. That said, he would help this team greatly, as I think we have enough mental tougness and grit on this roster to overcome. I have NEVER seen a HOUSTON ROCKET, quit on his team, like Tracy did. Including Scottie...
