it was shortsighted, but that team had a very good shot at a ring...kemp didn't eat himself out of star status for another year or two after that, so we would have lost that year against seattle without charles once again...with dream getting older keeping cassell wouldn't have done a lot other than just having the pg spot set, which is great, but we'd still need to rebuild shortly after.
yes we had problems with this guy <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/HQeMhYJe5JA&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/HQeMhYJe5JA&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
i believe that Kemp would have had a HOF career if he had not gotten fat. He did play stellar against the Bulls in the Finals.
HOF was possible (during a stretch of of 5-6 years b/t seattle and cavs), he put up around 17-20 and 9-11 boards. he was def. an all-star caliber player and one of the most exciting finishers we've EVER seen. but besides getting fat, he was busy making a baseball team.
I just finished watching that Top 10 reel. I hadn't seen any of his play from during his prime in a long time but it was a good reminder. I didn't even see that much while he was in his prime. Somebody dropped a Grant Hill highlights clip in the Dish. It was amazing to see what he used to be like before the injuries. I watched a lot of college ball back then and saw plenty of Hill at Duke and a little bit early in his NBA career. He could get around defenders at will back then and finished with thunder. It sucks that he never realized his full potential.
He sure did. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BXmJyaMWUNI&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BXmJyaMWUNI&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
shawn kemp and grant hill were HUGE in the mid 90s. i still remember those guys like yesterday. i never forget great players. grant hill was a legit top 50 all-time player if he stayed healthy.
Man Pippen was trash as a Rocket. All he did was stand at the 3 pt line. He couldn't create for himself or anything. I still remember him fumbling the ball and turning it over against Kobe in the final seconds the during the first round. I wish Charles had knocked him out or something.
Ahh yes good ol Shawn Kemp. IMHO he's the greatest and will forever remain the best in game dunker of all time and play number 8 is my favorite alley-oop of all time.
I'll agree that he threw down the hardest dunks in game, along with Sprewell but I have to say Vince Carter and Julius Erving were the best. Kemp is def. top 5 though.
I still say the most impresive dunk I've ever seen in a game was when Clyde took off from the free throw line in a game vs la. Once in the air, scott just kinda got out the way and clyde picked his feet up.
Wow, I'd forgotten how hard he threw it down and how much elevation he had. Some of those dunks were just crazy! Just from some of those videos he looks like he has just as much vertical as guards like Carter, J-Rich and dare I say even LBJ.
I haven't seen it Morey isn't the type to take poison pill contracts - I don't think he'd be foolish enough to acquire a player like Maggette or Biedrens. Just not his style.
The better T-Mac plays in this contract year the more value the team will get by trading him before the trade deadline in February. Getting bigs and a high percentage shooter is a high priority and now is the time to pull the trigger because T-Mac will NEVER be free from nagging injuries and is way too injury prone to hold onto regardless of how well he plays and I love his game when he's not injured and am a McGrady fan. I'm just a Rockets fan first.
