Quick note...You can't combine trade exceptions.

Honestly, I don't think Morey has courage to do that.

They would be separate simultaneous trades.

Why not? The Rockets aren't winning with the "assets" they have now. A trade for Anthony would remove the team of all these bad contracts. If he decides to stay, great. If not, then the Rockets have more cap space. I say go for it but it's all dependent on whether he wants to come to Houston or not.

I don't understand the point of renting Melo. Why trade a big star with no extension? You know he's the heart of the team. You also know he's going to leave. Why do it?

Guess Morey thinks he can convince Anthony to sign the extension once Anthony gets to Houston.

Or even if Anthony chooses not to stay a Rocket, Morey may still get value back by giving Anthony the sign-and-trade to the team he wants to go to in the offseason.

I am happy to "rent" Melo as long as the deal involves Denver taking K-Mart and Lowry's contracts.

we need to plan for the future, not give up our assets for the short term.

What assets do we have? A bunch of one-dimensional players.
Our assets were severely overvalued (by our own fans).

The Astros did the same thing with Carlos Beltran. How did that work out for all of you? To all those folks who think renting Melo is this great idea that will transform this team's fortunes, please explain just WHY he'd want to come play here when he's already played in a similar situation to Houston and hasn't won anything over there. But he's going to want to come here and relive that experience. Meanwhile, his model wifey is in New York partying it up with Jay-Z & Beyonce. Oh yeah, that would work out great - can't wait to see those pigs flying in the sky when this happens.
