With the way were playing so far the right to swap picks in next year's draft is virtually worthless for us...considering we may actually have a worse record than the Knicks by the end of the year. Let's keep in mind we're losing to the RAPTORS by 8 right now.

I say do it. He apparently was willing to sign an extension with us earlier in the year, and there is no doubt Morey will be working on convincing him to stay if we do trade for him. Houston should be an exciting place for Melo to consider, with a closer like Melo, we could be a very good team. Not to mention we will have room for another max contract this offseason with Yao expiring. With all that cap space, we could afford to sign his buddy CP3

The way we're playing right now the right to swap picks may be worthless, but the draft pick itself will be golden!

Are you saying trade our pick? If we are worse then the Knicks that means we will probably have a top 4 pick because they are HORRIBLE.

This would be a stupid, foolish move.

Yes, if we keep losing we will have no need to swap with the knicks because we will be in the lottery with them.

I hope to God we will turn it around, and I think with the help of a trade we will, but it's hard to be optimistic after watching the beating the Thunder laid down on us

Well IMHO if we move the pick, it has to be for a star with a long term deal, not a rent a player. If we do get a top 4 pick, there will be some potential franchise guys available or possibly trade for Rubio but just my opinion. ;)

I think at this point this is why this is a good idea. We either get our star and continue to improve or blow it up all in one move.

bring him in as long as we don't touch yao, martin, scola. we'll worry about the future later cuzz the present is pretty depressing. i can't stand another one of those 10 point losses to teams like toronto. guy is a legit threat anywhere on the court.

Let's snuff out this fallacy right now and for good. The Knicks could win more games and still get a higher pick.

Sign the extension or your bluffing us. Not gonna sign on for any player who doesnt want a extension. New York? Is a bottom feeder and we havetheir draft picks Carmelo. Just sign with us and make the trade happen.

LeBron left in a sign and trade. I'd be all up for a Melo trade, because we can get something in return, maybe even better than what we have now, in a sign and trade.

Lets be realistic here. A trade for "MELO" would no doubt be nice. But would It help us? To me It doesn't look like our offense needs work. It's our defense that needs a change. Our TO need to be cut down, and our PG's need to step up. A lineup consisting of 80% offense and 20% defense is not very good.
    Offensive Line Up:
    PG-A.Brooks 20%
    SG-K.Martin 20%
    SF-S.Battier 0%
    PF-L.Scola 20%
    C-Y.Ming 20%

    Defensive Line Up:
    PG-A.Brooks 0%
    SG-K.Martin 0%
    SF-S.Battier 100%
    PF-L.Scola 0%
    C-Y.Ming 0%

So who's left out? YES! Shane Battier needs to go. I understand he's a good role model but again role models dont win games, defense does and from the game iv'e seen his D stinks and his offense is worst. Get rid of him or keep him and keep losing. He is a weak link in this group and the step child of the squad.

    Detroit:
    Battier,Jeffries,cash cosideration

    Houston:
    T.Prince

He wants to win, right now our records terrible. We need to show him that we can win and that we can ensemble him within a group of great role players. Emwe once had that ensemble except Carl Landry was traded, Buddinger is hittin some kind of wall as of late, our pg's are doing poor, AND we can't find the right rotation of post players for the strangest reason. <- Ex: why is Jeffries playing at all?!? Unless we're auditioning him for other teams just let him ride the pine!

NY has what Melo wants! A big market to play in, a great arena, a friend in stoudemire, a superstar teamate in stoudemire and an ensemble of role players that aren't consistent nor a presence as if yet but that is definitely a favorable prospect: a developing unselfish pass first shoot last pg in Felton, who also had good court vision, a really promising 2nd year player in Gallo a great 6th man in Wilson Chandler, and an ok bench.

In conclusion let's listen to my sig and go after Iggy and Wallace.

    Dj/Lowry/Ish
    Martin/Lee
    Iggy/ buddinger
    Wallace/Scola
    Yao/Miller

    I'm not really sure.

    A) If he doesn't agree to the extension, we don't give up nearly as much. And the Nuggets aren't going to get the same value as they would have dealing him before the season.

    B) If he goes to the Knicks it'll probably be in a S&T and we could still get Anthony Randolph and another good player or the Knicks lottery pick.

I would do this in a second for Kyle Lowry, Kevin Martin and an expiring (Battier, Hayes, Jeffries)

Good idea taking back salary with the TEs to entice Denver with saving big $$. I would propose sending Brooks instead of KMart as veteran piece to the deal:

    Brooks / J. Hill / Jeffries / J. Taylor / C. Lee / TE / TE / TE / 2012 NY Pick

    for

    Melo / C. Andersen / R. Balkman / A. Carter

Using the 25% rule + three trade exceptions, this would save Denver $10 in salaries, + $10 million in luxury tax. Our lineup would then be:

    Lowry/Ish/A. Carter
    KMart/Battier
    Melo/CBud/Balkman
    Scola/Hayes/Patterson
    Yao/Miller/C. Anderson

PG would be the big deficiency in this lineup, but perhaps we could address this with the 2011 NY pick.

I really want Carmelo in a Rockets jersey.

    But not without an extension.
