Anytime dallas and houston are mentioned about the same player, i tend to think dallas will get that player. Nothing against morey, but cuban will pay the tax and he's trying to win every year. Now if you told me the rockets were sending martin and filler for melo and battier/jeffries and brad miller for jackson and diop, it might gather my interest.

It will be Battier/Jeffries/Brooks and a pick.

I could care less if we lose bud and hill. They've shown some nice flashes, but it's not as if they are going to be anything more than role players at best in their nba career. Hill isn't a great rebounder or defender and his offensive game is still very limited. Bud has had some nice shooting games, but his shot isn't consistent and he can't play defense. Both are great athletes, but both are easily replaceable imo.

Well when Anthony leaves Morey will be after Caron Butler so that might be his replacement in the offseason.

I don't think the nuggets would want brooks, the already have Billups and clearly are pretty sold on Lawson being their PG for the future. Plus, I don't know if that would be enough anyway.

I agree with you, but let just say we trade for Melo, and we send Brooks, Budinger and Hill, who is gonna run the PG position, we saw what Lowry could do which has been disappointment so far, Smith isn't experienced enough to run the PG.

I know That Budinger and Hill haven't shown anything this season, but our Bench would be horrible without those guys.

I think the Nuggets would be looking for expiring contracts and not take on salary.

I would send Battier, Jeffries, Lee, and NY picks.

It's not about Morey. It's about Les. He doesn't want to shell out that extra cash. It's how he runs his business and he's doing pretty well right now.

IMO it's gonna take more than Martin/Jeffries for Melo. Maybe Martin/Jeffries/Bud/Hill for Melo/Balkman/JR smith. Then our Ariza trade exception for Birdman. I think that would save Denver nearly 20 million and almost get them out of luxury tax hell and that's what they've said they want for Melo.

And wtf was Charlotte thinking when they signed Diop to that contract? Good god I never knew it was that bad! I can easily see them agreeing to a SJax/Diop for Battier/Miller swap if they are looking to dump salary.

We would be FAAAR above the luxury tax and we'd certainly be swinging for the fences.

PG Brooks/Lowry/Ish
SG Sjax/JR/Lee
SF Melo/Sjax
PF Scola/PPat/Balkman
C Yao/Birdman/Diop

Doesn't look like a championship team to me, but who knows! It's fun to play fantasy GM.

My thinking is Melo will cost 1 out of Scola, Brooks, or Martin, 1 out of Cbud or Hill, and 1 pick from NY, and jeffries (expiring). Also, it would have to be 3rd team involved.

This would still leave us with enough weapons to succeed, if a semi healthy yao is ready for playoffs. But like I've said earlier, even if it blows up in our face and Melo leaves, I will not be shedding tears over assets lost. Its a gamble, and if the result is Melo or true lottery next year (top 3 pick), I'm actually quite ok with it.

The team is not gelling as Morey and RA thought so they are probably a little desperate to try it now than before.

Probably not as in love with their roster.

If Lawson becomes their no.1 guy they might prefer Lowry. A Melo & Billups trade package?

If Melo does not want to resign with us, we could still ship him to NY in a sign and trade for Gallinari plus a huge trade exception. Not a bad consolation prize. See BimaThug article.

Let me see if I understand...

We are 3-8 and people think that trading for Melo is a move that will doom our future????

And what about our present????

People love talking about the future, 90% of the teams that think about the future get screwed in the process, because you can´t predict everything, even if you have the peaces (OKC), you still have to put everything together to go all the way....

Are the lakers thinking about the future(after Kobe era)????
Are Boston thinking about the future(after the big 3 era)????

(and we lost the first period against Toronto, and we are down by 8)

With the way were playing so far the right to swap picks in next year's draft is virtually worthless for us...considering we may actually have a worse record than the Knicks by the end of the year. Let's keep in mind we're losing to the RAPTORS by 8 right now.

I say do it. He apparently was willing to sign an extension with us earlier in the year, and there is no doubt Morey will be working on convincing him to stay if we do trade for him. Houston should be an exciting place for Melo to consider, with a closer like Melo, we could be a very good team. Not to mention we will have a ton of cap space this offseason with Yao, Battier, Jeffries all expiring. With all that cap space, we could afford to sign his buddy CP3
