Like Robbie just said, him leaving us may not be all that bad. We wouldn't even have to tank then, we would just suck and end up with a top 3 pick. Or do you just prefer the current 40-45 win roster with no clear direction? My whole point was if we accomplish something this year with Melo, or he re signs with us great, if not, oh well, I'm not really going to lose sleep over losing Brooks or Bud or any other role player in the process. I'm after either true stars (Melo is one), or a top 3 pick. As we've witnessed recently, teams w/o these stay mediocre year after year.

You're an idiot if you wouldn't even take a shot at getting Melo

also, rocket river made the point that we would likely be able to sign and trade him for something when it becomes apparent that he is leaving.

DO IT, DO IT but keep Yao at all cost that way if Melo bolts next summer we'll have over 34 million off the books all at the same time allowing us to rebuild with superstar talent.

Birds rights. We could do a sign & trade with the Knicks and recoup some assets if needed.

Adding Melo to this roster without giving up Martin and Scola makes us MUCH better.

We have players that we are going to loose, can you imagine loosing budinger, Hill, and maybe brooks for a one year rental, and the experiment may not even work.

This team has shown an ability to go toe-to-toe with the good teams with basically just Scola and Martin being the scorers.

And even though I've always been against the idea of forcing to ball to only one person in the 4th quarter, it's painfully obvious that this team needs somebody they can just feed the ball to in late-game situations.

Melo would be that guy, so if we can make a deal for him without giving up Martin and Scola, I'd be 100% for the trade.

I agree they need a closer is just one team need. And they need more length/quickness/athleticism in the middle.

I don't know why so many members are saying go for it, Carmelo is a great player but trading half of our assets for a one year rental is just ridiculous,
Carmelo would never consider signing an extension here we all know where he wants to be.

If this trade happen i think we going to loose Brooks, Budinger, Hill, and maybe one of the knicks pick, if I was in Daryl's position I wouldn't do it.

    Better than Miami trio.

    Scola
    Melo
    Brooks

Give them Martin and Lowry plus NY draft.

    So we have

    Yao/Hill
    Scola/Hayes/PP
    Battier/Melo/Bud
    Melo/Lee
    Brooks/Ish

Melo is a three not a two AND dumping Lowry is a salary dump Denver is not taking on salary.

that's a good point too. lol les won't be taking on salary either. denver has made it pretty clear that if they are trading melo then they want to be under the luxury tax. les has also made it clear thru the actions morey has taken that he doesn't want to be over the luxury tax either.

i was trying to think of potential trade scenarios, but i really can't think of one that works for both teams.

Trading for Carmelo keeps him out of NY this season.
